I received my 6131 NFC today as I have been picked to take part in a test run by my local public transport company.
The enable ticket purchase via the phone's web browser and utilize NFC at the stations to cut down the steps on the phone from 9 to 3.

I still haven't tested it but sure will do and do a write up on my blog at: http://localocation.wordpress.com/

Please expect this to be online in about a week.

Cheers

I am part of the trial too. I too use my phone to take the 6 to and from work every day. It is so easy and convenient to use. One time I got yelled at from another subway rider as I went through the turnstile. He wanted to know if I used my phone and wanted to go back and show it to him, but I had already nearly gotten on my train. I hope is creates some buzz amongst his friends.

I am purposely frequenting merchants who accept PayPass. While I have used it at Duane Reade and CVS, there are many merchants in Grand Central who accept it as well –The two fish markets in the Grand Central Market food shopping area. Hot and Crusty at the 42nd and Vanderbilt entrance and Caffé Pepe Rosso on the lower level center area.

I have gotten some looks and smiles from cashiers at the check-out counter. They ask what kind of phone it is. I tell them but add that it is trial technology and the phone cannot be bought yet since it is just a prototype Nokia phone. It must returned at the end of the trial.

It is very convenient to use since I always carry my phone with me and now I never have to take out my card or wallet or sign for purchases (if under $25).

In addition, it seems the Subway trial has been extended through 2007. See: http://www.mastercard.com/us/paypass/subway/index.html

I hope the NYC Mobile Trial will be extended as well!

Saadia,

How then would having more than enough storage slow down your phone? I'd recommend you go for the 1GB card, since more space is always good.

Nokia has already released an SDK for developer that will allow you to write programs for the 6131 NFC before it comes out.
