Nokia N95 EURO Product Codes and Language Packs

The Nokia N95 EURO product codes and language packs are now available. The document these were included are confidential along with the announcement of an updated fiirmware version 10.0.018 but somehow got leaked. These product codes can be used to change the language included in your phone, as well as updating to the latest firmware if it is not available in your particular region.

You can follow the same directions in the How To Update To Nokia N73 Music Edition guide for upgrading the firmware on your Nokia N95 via Nokia Software Update but as of writing this post, there are no software updates available. I will write a HOW TO: Flash Update Nokia N95 Firmware later if the latest version is still not available in Nokia’s website by the time I receive my own Nokia N95.

You can try finding out yourself when a software update is available for a particular product code by checking on Nokia Update Availability.

Got a UK Voda branded one yesterday..

    V 10.0.018
    15-03-07
    RM159
    Nokia N95 (41.01)

Just so you know, I believe mine is seriously crippled by the Voda firmware, but if someone could advise me I'd be most appreciative.

First of all - there is no SIP client on it. My reading suggests that the current crop of S60 phones should have a SIP client there... All the SIP setting stuff is there, I can get it to the point where it says registered, but, I cannot work out how to make calls with it. I think there should be somewhere under the calls settings that says 'Default call type' with the options being something like 'GSM' and 'Internet'. Does anybody have that on theirs?

Secondly, I cannot change the mail settings away from the Voda ones. Well - I can edit the voda profile to point at my servers, but, I cannot create a new profile so I can't switch it from POP to IMAP.

Should I expect both these problems to be fixed by flushing it with untainted firmware.

Can't wait for the guide on how to do the firmware - itching to get it sorted out.

    Kent.

    Hi Kent,
    >>somewhere under the calls settings that says ‘Default call type’
Go to Menu->Tools->Internet tel.->options->Settings->preferred call type

Or, when you make a new contact and add their number under internet telephone, the phone will automatically swap to SIP when calling SIP numbers and GSM/WCDMA when making standard mobile calls

For creating a new mailbox, goto Messaging->Options->Settings->email->mailbox->Options->new mailbox
(this is in my unbranded 10.0.018)
  • Kent Martin
Ok - all good with the email - I don't know how I missed that,

    As for the SIP calls...

I can see you put in 'internet tel' under contacts, but unfortunately, I don't have a Menu->Tools->Internet Tel

    Bloody Vodafone :(

C'est la vie - the gentleman who's blog this is suggests above he'll write some instructions on how to flash this bad boy with generic firmware then I'll be very happy indeed :D

Anxiously waiting... and thanks for the help.

    Kent

You can't at the moment, this is because when you change product code to euro-1 0536062 lets say. The nokia service update has No software yet.

Give it a couple of weeks then keep trying it, it will then have a option to resinstall original firmware which if you changed product code, will be generic.

    Ian,

It appears that Mark knows a way from the original blog entry; I quote:

"I will write a HOW TO: Flash Update Nokia N95 Firmware later if the latest version is still not available in Nokia’s website by the time I receive my own Nokia N95."

Hopefully we can sort out these issues once he's had a chance to do so.

I've been watching his twitter log and he's got his new phone - so it's only a matter of time before he gets bored of fiddling with it :)

    Kent
  • @Kent do you have a twitter? =) I'll update my firmware after playing with the phone for a little bit. hopefully by that time, we can just use the product codes and enter it in Nokia Softwware Update.
  • Kent Martin
    Mark,

No mate - not used it (twitter) - may fire it up after seeing it now though.

I guess we have to wait for the Nokia Software Update to do the firmware - or is there another way? I am itching to de-cripple!

It is a damned pain having to use windows for all this stuff - I too you see am a Mac user.

    Cheers,

    Kent.

  • If you love your N95 (like I do!), and you've got the internet telephony settings, then you might be interested in watching this video from Truphone* which shows the N95 in all it's glory - as well as how to take advantage of wifi and make cheap VoIP calls on your mobile:
