How To: Update Nokia N95 8GB Product Codes For Changing Language Packs
November 19th, 2007 • Mark Guim • Filed Under •
Update your Nokia N95 8GB to a firmware with your preferred language pack by changing the product code on your phone. Updating your Nokia N95 8GB to the latest firmware, and/or changing the language pack is similar to the guide I wrote earlier on changing the product codes in the Nokia N95-1. If you are a new Nokia N95 8GB owner, this might be helpful if you want a different language pack in your new phone.
Download and install: Nemesis Service Suite and the latest Nokia Software Update.
- Connect your phone and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
- Open Nemesis Service Suite and click “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
- Click on the icon “Phone info”
- Click on “Scan”
- Change the product code to the one you want from the list below.
- Mark the case “Enable”.
- Press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
- Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia Software Update.
- Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
- That’s it! When you restart your phone, it should now be upgraded!

Please Nokiablog can you help me as i want to upgrade my N95-3 would these codes work on the N95-3 as the backs are identical,i will give it try a see if it works
Mark Guim on 19 November 2007:
I wouldn’t want to try these codes on the N95-3 because they are different phones.
Helge Ringberg on 19 November 2007:
Awsome stuff, this is exactly what I was looking for. One question though. What happens if I change the product code to SCANDINAVIAN but there is no scandinavian firmware released?
I dont know if the scandinavian firmware is released or not, its just the phone isn’t released in scandinavia.
Mark Guim on 19 November 2007:
You can change the code to SCANDINAVIAN, but if the Nokia Software Update doesn’t find an update, nothing will be downloaded.
velimir on 20 November 2007:
@Mark
I have N95 8gb from Nokia Croatia (BALKANS) and product code is 0557650… not sure why you have different one.

I 2 would love a list of product codes for the N95-3, i cannot find a list anywhere on the web, only a few that were posted here,
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=789624&p=10
as i want Australian or at least AP firmware i have not tried the two listed on that link,…
Can anyone help?
phanthomas on 20 November 2007:
..you should not forget to mention that you WILL lose your product warranty doing this! So: Use it at your own risk only. You should really, REALLY know what you are going to do!
Just a sidenote on this tutorial..

Taz on 21 November 2007:
Does anyone know the UK product code for the N95 8GB?
thanks.
Andreas Blixt on 21 November 2007:
“I dont know if the scandinavian firmware is released or not, its just the phone isn’t released in scandinavia.”
I live in Sweden and I’ve had my phone since last week (from the operator 3, http://www.tre.se)
Anyways… There aren’t any firmwares out yet (at all) for it so you’re stuck with your operator bundle until one is released. Right now the N95 8GB firmware seems to be v10.0.021, dated 29-09-07.
Taz: There aren’t country-specific codes, but EURO1 is probably what would be used for a phone sold in the UK.
SV on 22 November 2007:
my N95 8GB (bought in India) has the product code 0557631
TheFlyer on 22 November 2007:
Hello!
First of all, thank you for great information Mark Guim regarding flashing of the N95 8GB!
Although, I do have one question for you. I’m planning to buy a Nokia N95 8GB in February when I’m going to the States on vacation. But, at the time I will buy the phone, many firmwares might have been released and there will be a long time until a new update will show up. Maybe in June?
So, if I buy the phone with the newest firmware in February and I change the product code to Scandiavian - what will happen? Will it say “no new updates” since the newest American firmware is inside the phone, or will it download the newest Scandinavian firmware right away since the product code has been changes and NSU can’t find any Scandinavian firmware in the phone?
Thanks a lot for any help here!

Yo!
Uk Voda 8Gb code is 0557135.
If you change it to Euro1 0549487 the update works fine. Updater quoted 11.0.026 (latest version in answer to chandru) for both current AND update (coz I already did it once before learning of NSS) but the procedure goes ahead anyway.
The result was BYEBYE logo hello unbranded!

Hi. I just wondered. Du you include the “#” symbol with the product code? and a nother question. If something goes wrong. I read on the nokia support center that many who have tried to update the software was cut of during the update. When they did noting wrong. What can you do is so happends?
steeve on 11 January 2008:
no need to type # symbol, just the product code is ok. you can even check the code that u write by using the read button after update the product code.
should update it when the line (your internet service) when less busy. it take me almost 1 hour ++ to update malaysia version 108mb.

i HAVE unlock code from vodafone …but doesnt work. says code error…however i changed my product code to 0534841 before i tryed the unlock code and was wondeing if this is why it doesnt work??? also - i was the isiot who didnt write the old product code donw before changing it so i cant even try the code with the origanl product code??!!
also i cant seem to get it to update - so i can debrand it…
please please please somebody put me out of my misery!!
junaid on 5 March 2008:
@ kar33m
the old product code is written under the batree on your mobile phone. use the same nss system to change back to the old prod code. mostly Uk Voda 8Gb code is 0557135. (but still check under you batree.)
after changing the prod code and updating the firmware, try using the unlock code from vodafone to unlock ur phone.( and please do tell me how u got the unlock code from them?)
and then to get the firmware v 15 u can always change the prod code to 0534841 after it is unlocked and run the update again.
cheers.
hope i could help.

u also need the software called “tnt enforcer” to be able to change the prod code in nss.
and if u have it, did u enable it?
if u enabled it, did u click “write” in the nss after u wrote the desired prod code?
if u need the tnt enforcer, mail me on jrmerchant@gmail.com and i will send it right over in a rar file.
ok cheers.
glad i could be of help.
p.s. vodafone cs sucks, i called them up for a nuc code ( to unlock the phone from the network) and the dame says 700+ quid. mailed them on the forum and got an instant reply.
also the nuc codes for all vodafone pay monthly cust is free irrelavent of the age of the handset. the pay as u go cust can obtain the nuc code from vodafone by paaying 19.99(inc. vat)
do try the truphone applicaton, it is great for having an internet phone on ur current phone, and u can have free roaming if u just have an internet connection.
also u can call all gtalk users all over the world and vice-a-versa straight from ur phone.
yes it is free.
no i dont market it.
i am just freeking out wit it. lol
bye for now.

Have any of you experience syncing problems since changing the product code and after updating the firmware.
I used euro code above to update Vodaphone, now debranded which is all fine but PC sync won’t allow install or sync in win XP ??
Should I have formated the hard disk 1st or done a hard reset which means loosing all my apps & info.
But would do it if it fixed the problem.
Are their any specific product codes for the UK N95 8Gb as their seem to be a few, which do you choose & does it matter ?
Thanks

Daveybaby on 31 March 2008:

Sounds like you have one of the nokia clones.
My friend bought one on EBAY commonly known as NOKLA n95. not an 8gb. usually coming with about 512mb - 1gig micro sdram.
His nokla also came out with those exact three options and the MT6227 when comport was selected.
These phones are preloaded with their own chinese software. non symbian.
n95 8gb’s are N95-2 & RM-320
The clones cannot be updated unfortunately. Nor have my attempts to find software for them been successful.
Let me know if u ever find any updates for that phone.

Hi, I’d like to change the language support/options of my US version N95 RM-160 into one that supports Chinese. From the tutorial in this website, it seems all so easy as long as I choose a correct product code such as the one in Hong Kong, or in Malaysia, etc, and followed by a Nokia Software update. This is really great.
Please enlighten me with one concern though. Is the hardware of my phone (as mentioned earlier) exactly the same as those in Hong Kong or Malaysia? I seem to read somewhere that not all N95 phones are equipped with identical hardwares. If not, are there dangers?
I’ll be really grateful.

Hey guys, Vancouver [Canada] here! Just bought an N95 8gb Unlocked from NCIX.com and it works great. Just popped my sim card in from [FIDO] Network and works like a charm.
Question tho…!
How do I update my firmware from Version 15. to Version 20 or 21 at that?!
Posted here is a link >> http://www.flickr.com/photos/insomune/2439423783/sizes/o/ << to what happens to my computer when I try to do a firmware update!
Wondering if I need to find a product code for Canada?
Any suggestions?!
Thanks!

After reading the entire posts. I’m even more confused. I don’t really understand all the code system you’ve mentioned. I baught my N95 8GB in Canada (unlocked) it’s N95-2. what does it means? I tried to update the firmware and it says my version (15.0.015) is up to date and no other updates, as apposed to what people wrote about the new v20. in the end all N958GB owners get the same updates, right? if not, what should I do?

Nemesis only works with XP
Niklas on 4 May 2008:
Guys, you have to install the older version of Nokia software suit you have on CD, preferably on a 2nd computer. After that, download and run Nemesis. When you have done that, plug in your phone on the 1st computer and reinstal Nokia software updater.
This have to be done because Nemesist does not work with the newest Nokia Software Suit

Hi everybody
lots of product codes (thanks!) but… what languages are in each code? In my 0550798 code for Rusian phones I can choose between English, Russian, German, Bulgarian,Hungarian,Romanian and Ucrainian. Same for the writing language (that is, T9 dictonaries). I am perfectly happy with the english menu, but I write mostly in Italian, then English, Spanish and chut chut Russky. So the question is: which product code I have to use with Nemesis to flash the phone? Can live without Russian (what a waste on the keybord!) but can’t live without Italian and English. Thanks and please, as a service to fellow users/consumers, post the languages include in your own product.

Swisscom product code for the N95 8GB seems to be 0557802 - just to update the list.
Both Swisscom and Nokia here seem to think it’s the other side’s responsibility to fix the phone to get the latest updates.

This has been the most useful piece of information and I did changed the language of my N95 8GB and it worked within few minutes of the operation which you have described. I am truly obliged to you for making this wonderful post.
junaid on 22 June 2008:
@sam
unlocking and debranding are different,
no it will not unlock your phone for other networks; for that u need a bb5 unlocker, or call up orange and ask them for a nuc (network unlock code)
Edd on 23 June 2008:
I did this last year with my Orange branded N95. I am currently considering the N95 8GB but I have a problem with the product codes that have been shown.
I currently use the Orange “line 2″ facility. When I went to “Euro1″ with my N95 I lost that facility. I subsequently changed the product codes to a “Carphone Warehouse” product code. This brought back line 2.
Does anyone know whether “Line 2″ (ALS) is supported in the “Euro 1″ product code in the 8GB handset? If not, is there an equivalent “Carphone Warehouse” product code for 8Gig N95?

Please note, you should not use a N95 product code on a N95 8GB (and vise versa) unless you REALLY know what you’re doing and are prepared to kill your handset.

TO: Wayne
I have the N95 8GB from Rogers Canada Network
and I tried all the N95 8GB Asia codes
but I just can’t get anyone of them to update
it only works when I change it back to the original code
should I just wait until there’s a new update coming out…?
I’m really confused
hopefully I can get some answers
Thanks
Uncle Tom on 23 July 2008:
For the N95 8GB from Rogers the code for the update to work is “0561948″.I have try it and
it work very good.It updated from 11.2.011 to
20.2.005 and also debranded the phone.
N95-8GB has diferent versions
N95-1
N95-2
N95-3
N95-4
For the updater to work you need a product code
that matchs your version of N95-8GB.Codes from the tree first version are Maybe interchangable
i dont know but i know that the N95-4 is the NORTH AMERICAN version and the code starts with
“056″ and all the other versions with “054″ or “055″.
If anywone has a N95-4 please post your product code.
N95 8GB(N95-4)
“0564753″ english,francais,portugues and espanol.
“0561948″english,francais,portugues,espanol,chinese

hello there,
yesterday i wanted to install dutch language to my UK bought n95 8GB.
i installed nemesis and latest software updater.
when i plugged in the phone windows did not ask me to install new drivers.
it took me several attempts to read the language code on my phone and i managed to change it to EURO2 : #0550359
I then looked for update but it told me that there were no updates available.
the problem is that there is still no dutch language and i can’t reflash my phone to reset it as it keeps telling me that there is no update(before changing the code i could reflash my phone even if there were no updates)
i have several applications(Nokia Maps for example) that are not functioning properly and I really want to reflash my phone.
I have also tried to rechange the language code but nemesis does not see my phone anymore.
If there is anyone that can help me that person will be put on my christmas card list for this year :D.
junaid on 13 August 2008:
@nossy,
firstly you have to understand this is a debranding process not a flashing proces.
and please any one before getting into the same issue that nossy has got into,
i strongly suggest that you check if there are updates for the present product code or the one that you wish to change to.
use the links below.
http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4226014?N95_8GB
http://www.nokia.co.uk/link?cid=EDITORIAL_799358
in case there are no updates available, you can always “reinstall” the same firmware again with the new product code. and get your desired debranded language and a phone that does not have the operator customisations.
now ba
