Photodriving and Geotagging with the Nokia N82
Instead of photowalking, I was photodriving using the Nokia N82. This basically means I was taking pictures while driving. With the addition of Shozu, all the pictures I took were also geotagged with the current location. What I get as a result are photos uploaded to Flickr show up as dots on a map where the pictures were taken from. If you connect the dots, you can slightly see the path taken. This is also possible with other Nseries phones enabled with GPS like the Nokia N95.
The Nokia N95 8GB NAM Is Expected by Mid January
According to my distributor, I’ll be able to get my hands on the Nokia N95 8GB NAM by mid January. When I first heard about a North American Nokia N95 8GB from Devin at the Nokia Guide, I thought it was a mistake. However, another dealer confirmed the Nokia N95 8GB NAM by putting a pre-order online and I contacted my distributor just to make sure. So here we go, another Nokia N95 variant is coming. I will also be selling it at the Nokia blog store so keep a lookout.
How To: Crop Movies for Full Screen Instead of Wide Screen on the Nokia Nseries
It makes me jealous that the iPhone can fill the screen to play movies, while my Nokia N95 8GB and other Nseries phones can’t. Until they add this feature, here’s a workaround to view movies full screen. It requires cropping some pixels off the sides of the movie. I’ll share a math formula, so I hope your algebra and calculator skills are still fresh.
How To: Easy and Best Video Quality Conversion Using VisualHub on Mac
I previously wrote how to convert videos for Nokia Nseries phones, but now I’ve been using a better solution for Mac users with phones capable of playing excellent quality H.264 videos like the Nokia N93i, Nokia N82, and all versions of the Nokia N95. VisualHub creators made sure to make the program very easy to use. Take a look at the How-To.
Video: Add Touch Screen to Nokia N95?
Interested in turning your beloved Nokia N95 into a touch screen? Well, it’s as simple as placing a thin film of “advanced technology” over your screen. Intrigued? Then see after the Jump…
Bar Fight! Nokia N82 vs. Nokia N95-3 vs. Nokia N95 8GB Photo Comparison
Take a look at the pictures Ninong Brown (new contributor) and I took using our Nokia N95-3, Nokia N95 8GB, and the Nokia N82 during our open-bar nights at Calico Jack’s here in New York City. No charts, tripods, color tests, line tests, or other professional comparison tests here. Just simple snap and shoot, the evening image test for the rest of us. Let’s see the differences.
Navball: Interactive GPS-enabled Soccer Game
Bam! Mixing sports with a GPS capable phone?? What a freaking great idea!! Now mind you, growing up here in the States, I was never fond of soccer (aka “football”). For over 25 years I never gave the sport a chance, hell, I even refused to watch a single minute of a game. But, with the help of my buddies and an old Xbox, I grew to love the sport. (it’s all about Thierry Henry!) Now, while browsing around the interweb looking for soccer games for the Nokia N95, I ran across this radical sport called NavBall.
Review: Watch Youtube Videos with emTube
My personal most wanted app for the Nseries phones just came out in the form of emTube! I can now search and play all the videos available on Youtube, unlike the limited selection in the Mobile Youtube site or Youtube Video Center. emTube works great especially with the built-in automatic rotation. It is my current favorite app, but it still needs a little more work.
Finals Week: Be Right Back
It’s that time of the semester again. It’s been slow here because of finals week! My last one is this Tuesday, so wish me luck. Will be right back.
View From Brooklyn with the Nokia N95 8GB and Nokia N82
I had the Nokia N95 8GB and the Nokia N82 when I was driving by Brooklyn and saw a nice view of lower Manhattan. I knew I had to stop and take pictures. During the daytime, I could not really see major differences between the two 5 megapixel cameras. I gave my sister the N82 while I used the Nokia N95 8GB. Take a look at the pics and tell me if you see any difference.
