Video Demo: Nokia N95 Original’s Firmware 21.0.001 Built-in Youtube Flash Support
January 25th, 2008 • Mark Guim • Filed Under •
Here’s a video demonstration of the Nokia N95 Original (also known as N95-1), playing flash videos within the Youtube.com site. The firmware on this Nokia N95 is version 21.0.001, but its availability is still unknown. The current firmware at the time of this post, 20.0.015 can not play videos within the Youtube.com site.
The v21.0.001 firmware for the Nokia N95-1 is available to developers for testing. Will Nokia release this functionality to the public? Most likely, because the last update to the Nokia N95 8GB added built-in browser flash video support.
In the meantime, I recommend emTube to satisfy your YouTube cravings for your Nokia N95.

It’s hardly playing! Its more like an occasional screen shot of the YouTube video. Or is it just a bad YouTube vid? Good technical advance for S60 though. Put that on a Cortex core and we could be seeing impressive results.
Isn’t it funny though how one of the most inefficient codec implementations in use today has become a benchmark. Content is still king!

screencapture was taken from a remote feed over the internet. I have no idea how it performs in real life. We’ll have to wait and see if even nokia implements it for the public release.

Just a few days ago Youtube presented a Java application to both view and upload vides to Youtube from different devices. N95 included. Here´s a link: http://www.youtube.com/yt_mobile_app

this is just the RDA version, and nokia has announced last year that it will not EVER be released to the public.. i wrote about it on my site 3 weeks ago, with a video demo of me using the firmware.. see that article here..

Mark Guim on 26 January 2008:
Not ever? That sucks.
marty3 on 26 January 2008:
yeah it really does suck
we hope that nokia will release a firmware version with WRT (wen runtime) and FL3 (flashlite3) features on it, not the v21.0.001 firmware that we see on the RDA, but maybe a v22 or what ever, cus the n95-1 definetly still needs an update anyway to fix some minor bugs that still reside.. we just have to wait and see…

The N95 is the best phone ever with only niggling problems. For instance, whilst surfing with Tv-out, the screen does not fill out. Even whilst surfing the phone, the list of back pages isn’t shown in order. This phone won’t be obsolete for many more years to come.

I hope they released it soon……I am eager to update my phone N95……N95 rules
marty3 on 18 March 2008:
@mercedes if you switch your device into landscape mode while on TV-Out, it will then fill up the screen
but QVGA resolution is still outputted which makes it look awful, only videos and images are out put via tv-out in VGA resolution.
@rbeldua v21 firmware is avaialble in most nokia service centers.. still not yet available over the nokia software updater for some strange unknown reason..
