I’m a N-95 NAM (RM-160) with v20.2.011 firmware 05-13-08.
Any idea if this is the last firmware?

hi everybody. im new here. when i was updating my n95 it sudenlly went dead. and until now i cant on the phone. when i try, it shows nokia and freezes. somebody pls help

Do you really need a firmware update for N95? For ordinary people like us, we don’t really need this as N95, as it is, is very functional already! Just watch shows in the net.

ok i can confirm now – flashing an N95-3 with N95-1 firmware DOES NOT WORK! it bricks your phone.

unfortunately i had to learn it the hard way.

does any one know how to restore it (either using phoenix or nsu) or does anyone know how to start a phone in BB5 ADL Loader mode?

my phone turns on, comes to the nokia screen and dies.

i really badly need your help now. PLEASE HELP.

i feel so stupid now

i didnt get a 20.2.009 as you’ve mentioned on yours.

Whats your product code? so i could change mine to that and update.

Btw, since you havn’t flashed yours with n95-1 firmware, i don’t think that would change anything regarding to the n95-3 wcdma (3g) frequency. I did some research and it seems that n95-1/2/3/4 uses the same RF IC, but i cannot verify this without actually being brave enough to do it.

Phoenix SW is the service level software used by nokia.

I have the same problem, coz i my self moved to europe and i would love to use 3G.

have you tried flashing it? hope its not a hardware lock for the bands.

I saw a post here (below) on converting the N73-5 to N73-1, (non-3g to 3g). hmm interesting.

I think that replacing n95-3 firm with n95-1 firm will not harm the phone but this experiment must try it a person with phoenix flashing experience because if you brick your phone there is no way that you can restore it with NSU

I’m exactly looking for information about that eventual firmware change from N95-3 (NAM) to N95-1

I moved to europe and my NAM is only working as 2.5g (GPRS) WCDMA is not supported here, just UMTS

I’m not trully confident of this eventual firmware replacement Probably is hardware dependent

Any idea?

Some people say Nokia is withholding the firmware update to the N95-3 so that we will upgrade to the N95-4 instead. Outrageous if true… but that’s what I’ll probably do.

Welcome to the world of the E-Series.

Nokia seems to be releasing more phones than it can handle… I have the Nokia E61/E61i/E90/E65 and E51 (Yeah, I know… I should have learned by now)… Tons of bugs and no software update. The last one was announced on Nokia’s web site 2 weeks after it was downloadable…. Pathetic!

i would be seriously disgusted as well if at&t will get the n95. its going to be branded with their logo and its going to be a sad day when you can get the n95 for 199.99 before a 50 dollar mainl in rebate when you sign up for a 2 year contract.
