Nokia Siemens to Upgrade Edge Networks, Encourages Being an Early Adopter
If you haven’t already caught wind of this, Nokia Siemens are following the suit of the good folks over at Ericsson in the efforts to up the speed of Edge. By Q3 software should be able to have Edge hit speeds of around 592kbs down. They then plan to raise it as high as 1.2 mbps down, not too shabby!
Early adopters might feel a little less guilt about buying their shiny new phones that do not function on US bands of 3-3.5G. This is supposed to go down via software update on the networks, so in theory that will be all your handset requires as well. Heres to wishful thinking that your N95-2s and your other devices that never made it to these shores will be updated. More importantly, would this affect your decision on buying a Nokia N96 the second it comes out? Let us know!
