Vlog: Built-in Auto Rotation On The Nokia N95 8GB (N95-2)

The updated firmware version 20.0.016 for the Nokia N95 8GB (N95-2) came with built-in auto rotation. This is a video I made after the update. The option was not turned on by default, so you can see where to find it to turn it on. I think it’s great and wish the feature comes on the other variations of the Nokia N95.

Compare vs. Nokia N82 Rotation

The Nokia N95 8GB rotates even on the main active display. The Nokia N82 does not rotate on the active display. I also noticed that the N95 8GB is more responsive. In my opinion, the screen rotation is much more useful on the Nokia N95 8GB because of the bigger screen.

  1. Mark,

Good review! Can’t wait until this firmware is available for my N95-4. I know you showed it next to the iphone, being that I have an iphone as well, how would you compare the two in regards to which one is quicker and/or more responsive?

  2. Great! When can I use this feature with my N95?

  3. Been using this for a couple of weeks after NSU update. Don’t know how I did without it before! Most apps seem to rotate, I find in conjunction with the large screen its great for quickly finding bits in a spreadsheet in portrait then turning to view in landscape.

  4. Hmmm.. I have that specific model (N95-2) and it says that the most updated version (15.something.0.something :) ) is already installed and there are no new updates. (and it also offers me to install the same update again. (override? what’s the point in that? :) )

  5. I’ve already updated the firmware of my N95 to the latest version(v21.x). There’s still no such feature.
