Nokia E71 Hands On By BGR

The Boy Genius Report got their hands on the Nokia E71, another hot phone that will work for North American 3G. Judging from the pictures, it looks like it can sway an Nseries user into the Eseries. Slick candybar form with qwerty keyboard sure looks tempting.

I’m not sure if I’m willing to give up my Nseries phone like the Nokia N95 8GB just yet. I’m a multimedia phone kinda guy and know that Eseries is not really targeted for that. For example, holding down that camera button on the Nokia E71 will not activate the 3 megapixel camera. I know it’s petty, but it’s convenient for taking those candid pics. Also after having 2.8 inches of screen space on the N95 8GB, it’s going to be hard to settle for anything smaller.

Switch?

What are your thoughts on the Nokia E71? Any current Nseries users out there thinking of the switch?

  1. Switch, no. Rock both, hell yes!

  2. I own a N95 8GB, and I would switch to the E71. I do a lot of messaging, and web surfing, and having the QWERTY keyboard would be wonderful.

  3. I’d switch only if there’s a T-Mobile version

  4. Looks pretty hot. Very “Curve-like” which isn’t a bad thing at all. After going QWERTY with my Treo I definitely don’t want to go back. For me typing whether in messaging, email, Telenav, or web browsing is the more important. It’s also cause my multimedia stuff is on my iPod Touch.

  5. @ Zach : 100% agree. Definitely would like to rock both. E71 for weekdays, N95-4 for weekend fun. The size on the 71 is just TOO nice. Mark, i’m gonna try to get my hands on one of these things if i can get the right price from some buddies. I’ll give you a shout when i ask and give you pricing and what nots. I have a feeling the unlocked one (if its on our bands of 3g) will be better than anything att has to offer (if and when it comes out). I just hate carrier crippled devices for anything that normally comes from overseas.

  6. @PJ I’ve gotten so good with t9 that QWERTY is no longer required, but I agree it can be more convenient. @Andrew cool lemme know when you get your hands on it and give us another early unboxing.
