Vlog: Swimming With Stingrays at Stingray City, Grand Cayman

What a relaxing vacation! I’m back from a week cruising the Caribbean. My first post back is a video from Stingray City at Cayman Islands captured with the Nokia N95 8GB. It is basically a shallow area in the middle of the ocean where tourists can swim with lots and lots of stingrays. Check it out.

We sailed to Stingray City on a catamaran sail 40 minutes away from the cruise ship. The sun was glaring, but the wind helped cool us off. I did not know anything about the place beforehand, but I was really glad we went on the excursion. I recommend anyone to visit this place. There were a lot of ships and tourists but plenty of stingrays swimming around.

I learned that the southern stingrays had poisonous tails, but they only use it as a last resort because once used, they’ll be defenseless for life. The stingrays live in the area because of the food that the tourist guides and fishermen bring them.

On my next vacation, I will make sure to bring an underwater kit for the Nokia N95 8GB so I can shoot some videos or pictures in the water. I tried using a ziplock bag, but it blurred the video and I was not sure of its effectiveness. If you have recommendations, please let me know.
