Tip: Faster Multiple Selection Of Images And Videos In Gallery

For those who don’t know yet, there are faster ways to mark or select multiple images and videos on the Nokia/S60 Gallery. This is really useful for transferring files to your computer through bluetooth, or uploading multiple photos to Flickr and Ovi using the Nokia Share Online application.

After selecting the first photo, marking the rest is easier.

Fast Marking Option A

  • At the Gallery screen, go to one of the photos or videos you want to select, then press OptionsMark/UnmarkMark. That photo is now marked (notice the check on the upper right corner).
  • Instead of going through the options again and again to select other files, press on the center key for each additional photo then Mark.

Fast Marking Option B

  • At the gallery screen, go to the first photo you want to select, then hold the pencil key (or # if you don’t have the pencil like the Nokia N82), with one of the direction keys.
  • It will mark all the files in the direction you go to.

You can also mark individual items just by pressing the # key.
No need to click the joystick twice.
  • Marky mark and the funky bunch!
  • More Pencil key shortcuts for the Gallery:
Pencil+Up: Mark all visible photos in the forward direction.
Pencil+Down: Mark all visible photos in the backward direction.
Pencil+Left: Mark current and previous photo.
Pencil+Right: Mark current and next photo.
    Pencil+Center key: Mark current photo.

Note that if the photo you have currently selected is already marked, read "Mark" as "Unmark" for all of the above shortcuts.

I learned the following from Rianne on an AAS forum wrote:

"Awww.. I found it!!! Well what I did is press the shift key and move the joytstick up and down, so as a result two items is mark/unmark immediately, that’s why I was wondering on how to mark/unmark one item. But Tim, after reading your reply I tried pressing the shift key and pressing the joystick (not moving it up/down)… finally only one item is marked… GREAT!!!… You gave me an inspiration to do so and I’m just clumsy enough not to try that at the first place hahahaha…. Well I did try pressing the shift key only last time, without combination of the joystick and it didn’t work, that’s why I’m so confuse…"
