In UK and the nokia update software doesnt see this as available. Thinks 3.06 is the latest version available ? Anyone know anything about this ?

Someone posted the update was for phones with product code 0556386, but NSU online reports the latest version for that PC (product code) is 3.06, but 3.23.
Anyways, does anyone have the product code for an unbranded SCANDINAVIAN version? Mine is a unlocked, but branded, 3 phone, PC is 0566675. I want to get away from the branded software. I am now running on PC 0556389, which is fine with 3.23 BUT no swedish language support (thus, no T9 texting, bummer) and the FM radio seems to not work (different hardware chips or what?) as there’s only static and no stations found. Worked fine with the 3 firmware 3.06.
Have anyone found a list of 6220 Classic product codes? This is the only real information I have found so far on the net, and it’s not very complete… used to having very complete lists with my N73 to choose from.

When I searched today at Nokia, all the 6220 codes I tried say “Sorry there is no software available for that product code”. When I looked at the compatible phones, 6220 Classic is not listed. What’s up?

I got the Scandnavian phone (swedish) unbranded the code is also 0566675.

Thank you Svenne, wierd thing my (unlocked!) 3 phone has 0566675 as well. With the 3 logo at startup/shutdown in the firmware… however it was delivered UNLOCKED though.
Btw, I was not kidding about the problem with the radio, but it was NOT due to me reflashing it, it was just some other temproary problem. It’s working fine now. Wierd.

Let’s hope they resolve the problems and that the 6220 Classic doesn’t become another 6280?!

@Svenne, I have been reading several people had problems with their 6280 stopping halfway showing the dreaded message from NSU something like “Remove then replace batteries, press Retry, then power on phone” message. At that point you might get lucky (I did!) and see the Nokia “Local Mode” screen doing the recovery bootstrap loading process. But I’ve read several reports that users have had a dead phone at this stage.
That is what I believe myself is the reason why Nokia pulled the updates, they don’t want people breaking their phones and service centers swamped with Nokia 6220 Classic phones on warranty repair due to a technical problem with the NSU flashing process.
The 6280 have a similar problem (with firmware 3.40 IIRC) and it was never made available another NSU update EVER… they are up to firmware 6.xx now, but you still have to leave the phone to a service center to update. The follow up model 6288 worked fine.
Anyways, let’s hope they get the update process of 6220 Classic working again and sort out whatever the problem might be!

I don’t have the statistics but there have been many phones that had the firmware removed from NSU and restored later, and those who know more can correct me but I believe the 3.23 was a 1.5 MB patch only so maybe that sets this problem apart from the 6280 issue which admittedly I know little about. Really phones that had the firmware temporarily removed from NSU is not an exclusive club

this video is not a true 640 x 480 is it? it looks like 320 x 240 that has been interpolated to 640 x 480 and saved as such- what do others observe with the main camera video recording?

yes I think this will make it definitively clear why this is not Nseries, the video is severely compromised, outside of that I consider the phone to be brilliant but when I know I paid as much for 6220c as I would for N82, its clear which one I should have bought so that is a lesson learned. Very unfortunate

Ive also noticed very poor video quality. This is a major let down for me. I switched from a n95 to this for its size, expecting similar quality from pictures and video.
As this is one of the main features i use i am dissapointed to say the least.
suirely as it is the same lens as the n95/n82 etc this is mainly down to software?

oh i forgot to add. i updated 2 phones to the new firmware before it was pulled and the quality of pictures taken in low light is significantly reduced compared to the original firmware. perhaps this is one of the reasons it was pulled

I am having serious problems with connecting my 6220 to to my cars bluetooth system and am hoping this update will be available soon as I read it should improve exactly this. Frankly this is somewhat disappointing. Is there any way to manually install this update?

I used the latest version of the Nokia software updater and still can not update my phone, says 3.06 is the latest version. But there is several versions of the 6220 classic, I have the RM-328 model, which one do you have?
And which site/language did you use for the Nokia updater? I used the english version, dont know if they differe for different countries…

I changed back to 0566675 and reflashed from the non-Swedish EUROx-firmware 3.23 I had, to the Scandinavian (0566675) 3.23 firmware so I once again have Swedish T9-support (yeah!). Worked like a charm!

Ny is also rm-328 and it’s swedish lang. Before they removed the firmware, swedish was not availale. Ny also got the name 6220c-1

Still cant make it work. I have Nokia updater 1.4.56en and it doenst offer me any updates for the Nokia updater when I start it, so I am assuming I am having the latest updater software. Now when I start running it it shows me that I have a “Nokia 6220 Classic (RM-3287) Firmware version Current: 3.06 Update 3.06″ I can only reinstall the 3.06 but not upgrade. I have re-installed the Nokia updater several times, no changes. Should I try to re-install the 3.06 or where did you downlaod your Nokia updater and what version do you have?? Thanks a lot!!!

This morning (06/10/08) PC Suite tell’s me there is new phone software available, i run Nokia Software Updater (1.4.3) and it has to update itself to 1.4.6, now it find new software (still only version 3.23) for my 6220 classic, with it’s original product code.

PS. The update is 152.1MB… ouch

3.46 is available for some product codes, but be warned, hellocarbide hack is no longer working on this firmware version

yes I change my unit back to the original product code 0556499, download the update 3.46 that was 148.8 MB and as before- no data or settings lost

It is APAC product code, it has English, Chinese, Indonesia and Melayu

Just a quick update – if you use Nemisis to change the product code to 0556499 it will update to 3.46 also it will debrand the phone so if like me you are on 3 mobile it will remove the 3 startup screen and that horrible planet 3 button plus it adds Nokia Barcode Reader and allows you to lock the phone to UTMS mode or Dual mode (which the 3.06 firware on 3 does not allow)also I’ve seen an improvement in battery life too.

I was able to lock the phone in gsm,umts or dual mode in 3.06. But my phone is unbranded.

Well, my 6220 classic was delivered by 3, and it had product code 0566675 (scandinavia). It had 3 logo at startup/shutdown, and the 3 applications, buttons, etc. However, it was not locked! Other SIM cards worked with it.

Furthermore, I changed to another product code, upgraded, but lost native language support (I was really missing T9 support for swedish). So I changed back when the update became available for 0566675, and reflashed. But it has the Nokia standard software! No 3 software. Btw, most of the 3 supplied applications, such as MobileTV where actually just located at the memory card itself. Dunno how they got the startup/shutdown screen, and the 3 buttons in there, and I have no idea to get it back. Sorry!

I also faced the same problem with firmware 3.23.. I noticed that my setting wizard unable to define any setting for gprs, mms n others… Because of this problem, im cannot longer use my gps because it needs positioning that requires access point of my telco. I’ve tried to save/install the configuration setting from sms given by the telco but i got ‘no setting saved’ instead!!
Can someone help me regarding my problem?
I’ve tried to reinstall the firmware but it stuck at 23sec left to finish the installation.

I’ve successfully installed firmware 3.23 using NSU from US nokia website instead of the error connection lost when i use NSU from nokia europe website.
But im facing such a huge trouble with this firmware. Im no longer can set my phone configuration using the setting wizard icon and because of that, my 6220c cannot be use to send multimedia msg, browsing the internet and because of the ‘cannot define access point’ thing, i can’t use the GPS too… Im so sad.. Can someone help me to solve this problem?

I purchased a nokia 6220 classic, i had it unlocked in a shop, i was fed up of the 3 software embedded in the fone so, I backed up my fone, i used Nemisis to change the fones product code

With the help of Zafer and the product codes above I Changed the product to
0549325 EURO1 BLACK CYAN
This comes with english installed
Nokia software update then recodnised the 3.23 version it updated perfectly till the end
were at the 100% mark it said phone recovery
I unpluged the phone and turned it on cancelled the update process but my fone had upgraded to v3.23
It got rid of the horrid 3 welcome logo
and the 3 store music logo changed to a plain folder hwever i was unable to delete it
I then downloaded barcode reader and it installed perfectly.
The only difference i noticed was gps tracking is constantly on and the first of my shortcuts on standby theme had changed but was easily fixed. Appart from that it works fine.

i have the 6220 classic and my google maps funtion freezes when loading at 90%. what is the reason for this? i have tried updating the software of the phone but still i have only thr 3.06 version. What shall i do about google maps?

Nokia 6220 classic firmware 4.13 out!! Update via NSU now!

Just upgrade my nokia 6620 classic to firmware 4.13 and the GPS stopped working!

I also have the 4.13, my GPS did not stop working it seems ok, Carl are you using a specific software or the included GPS Data application

@Artoo, it turns out the problem was NOT related to the upgrade per say.

In the GPS configuration of “Positioning methods” there are four possible methods. By default “Assisted GPS” and “Integrated GPS” were selected. Somehow “Network” was also selected. With it selected no GPS worked. Removing the selection and it started working.

Funny thing, when I removed “Integrated GPS” as a possible method, the phone found the satelites much faster!

i too uses the 6220 c1. just upgraded to 4.13.. i have only 60 mb of phone memory free.. but i dont have any installed files in c. previously i had installed some files in C and uninstalled it.. but still the memory is not gonna improve.. any sugeestions?

I have a problem with my Nokia 6220 classic.
I´ve tried to sent and recieve textmessage to an american cellphone – but it doesnt work.
The problem is with the phone and not the provider – when putting the sim-card in another phone like my old samsung and even another Nokia in a store it works perfectly.
Does anyone else have this problem and/or can anyone please help me – talked to Nokia support over the phone – they arent much help.
