Nokia Maps 2.0 Upgraded to Version Build 3204
Go download the latest build version 3204 of Nokia Maps 2.0 at maps.nokia.com. There were no changelogs, announcements, or autoupdate notifications so I actually found this version by accident after reinstalling apps for the Nokia N95 8GB. The previous version I had was build 2602. Nokia should really try to put update notifications on Nokia Maps for us.

Latest build for Nokia Maps 2.0
As far as changes go, I noticed it was a lot faster to calculate routes after choosing “Drive to.” I had problems with 2.0 build 2602 taking too long to calculate the route. I’d already be halfway done by the time it found out how to get me there. I’m not sure if this was a problem with the application or the Nokia servers, but the calculation is quick on the latest build.
I’ve used it today with the Nokia N95 8GB and it worked like it was supposed to. If you haven’t tried it yet, the voice navigation is really useful. My buddy in the passenger seat was surprised asking, “Is that your phone?!?” Here are some screenshots.

Driving only 10 mph over the speed limit

Nokia Maps automatically zooms in or out depending on your speed.
Searching addresses or places on Nokia Maps is still not as good or fast as the Google maps application, but having voice navigation makes it very useful. As long as Nokia Maps can find the place or destination, it is much better to use than Google maps.

Nokia PC Suite has also been updated to 7.0.8.2 from 7.0.7.0 any thoughts on what might have been updated?

Cool.. will certainly update tonight. Yeah.. the search dialogue/box is.. err.. pretty much useless. I can’t actually recall it ever returning the result I was looking for, at leasdt when I was trying to type in an address. Google maps has that really nailed. The dedicated address search dialogue of Maps works a bit better.

i still prefer the garmin mobilext. you only pay once, instead of a subscription based model.
and it has my country’s maps (venezuela), which are made by a group of volunteers.
nokia’s maps for venezuela are really bad outside the capital.

@Viipottaja yup nokia maps is annoying when you try searching something that starts with a, b, or c. The number 1 button is for zooming.

I’m using the Nokia maps that came installed on my e71. I really like the voice navigation but when I do an address search, not from the search on the main screen (that never works) but by going through options, it almost always returns no results found. It finds like one out of ten addresses, addresses that goggle maps finds all the time. Addresses that are in the US and have been arouns a long time. Am I doing something wrong, is there a trick I’m missing?

Guys, I don’t want to sound like a muppet but I have the latest maps v2 on my e71 and can’t zoom in and out. On the right hand side of the screen there is a -#*+ graphic which I assume means that the * and # are used to zoom. This appears in the help. 0 is also supposed to centre on your position. These don’t work. I’m presuming that it’s because I can’t get out of things appearing in the search box but even when I cancel out of search I still can’t get those buttons to work. Can anyone help? Cheers, Crom

Here are the shortcuts for the E71.
* Spacebar = Center to your position
* Shift = Zoom in
* Delete = Zoom out
