Looks like its about time, eh?
The sooner the better - at some point Nokia’s marketing department will cut the prices generously, considering the Q1 “smartbombs” coming.
Anup on 1 September 2008:
Hey i want to buy the N82 and am waiting for the prices to fall which has’nt happened till date! so when do you think the N96 actually starts shipping and will the price of other phones fall?
Mark Guim on 1 September 2008
prices always fall. I can’t believe you can get the n95 now here in the US for less than $400.
ricta on 1 September 2008:
hey anup, come on man the price of the n82 is already low considering its features…
Anup on 1 September 2008
yeah agreed…but what to do
have become a heapo after spending a bomb on the N95 8GB and accessories and now the N82 accessories…think am gonna wait no longer…will buy the phone this week! and India INR 20, 000 is still quite a lot! you can get a 4th hand car for another 10/15 k or get a new bike or computer…
NICCI on 9 September 2008
Don’t bother with n82 its not that great am in UK and its free phone on12 months, only nice feature is its titanium, rest feature are all same.

john mortimer on 2 September 2008:

Julien Pellegrain on 2 September 2008
Like I said, I ask the sender (Farfar.se) and they tell me that the micro-SD card will follow in some days (wasn’t ready at expedition time)
john mortimer on 2 September 2008:

“This FW is auto updatable from the handset” (Julien Pellegrain)
how do you go about doing that from within the phone
i.e. what menu, do you go into
john mortimer on 2 September 2008:
sorry if you do a *#0000#
you can do it from there
john mortimer on 2 September 2008:

you can download it from http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_N96-1_UG_en.pdf
Andy Burgin on 3 September 2008:
Why ? as took Nokia so long to get the N96 released as it got alot of people hyped up upgrading from the Black 8gb N95,i was one of them but now its dragged on to long i will either get the i8510 from Samsung or the N85 that looks alot better than the N96,Nokia could have changed the N96 an put a 8 mega-pixel camera on it as the N85 or N79 will sell alot better so the price of the N96 will drop down really quick to get people to sign up for it
john mortimer on 3 September 2008
please read “why the n85″
best to keep with your n95 8gb as the n85 is crap to that phone, ho it got a oled, oh my god, just buy a iphone, as that also crap
john mortimer on 3 September 2008:
why the n85
best thing is OLED
and that it
it as a small screen (same size as the n95)
i have used the n95 8gb and the n96
and the bigger screen makes up for the oled
also the n85 as crap phone internal memory
oh dear if the n95 is to go by
so there
Rich on 4 September 2008:
I heard a rumor (From a Nokia Rep) that they held back the release date due to doing a bundle package with one of the batman movies, is this still the case?
Oliver on 4 September 2008:
The Limited Edition is bundled with Transformers, so it could be possible that Nokia has a exclusive deal with Warner Bros. but maybe it’s just “Batman Begins”
And even the operators in Austria, which are posting release notes very late, have the N96 already in their shop system. Which is a little bit annoying for me, because I thought the limited edition is exclusive for about 1-2 months.
Did anybody already receive the Micro-SD card?
This was the only key-feature of the limited edition and this little crowded box, which looked really better at facethetask.com
Maybe we can open a N96 Lim. Edition facebook group to connect and share experiences.
Cheers,
Oliver
Mark Guim on 4 September 2008
Nokia N96 Transformers edition? A little late isn’t it?
Oliver on 4 September 2008
I think so too, it was aired in August 2007 in Austria.
And Transformers was from Dreamworks.
I don’t understand Nokia ’cause on most of the product pictures is the Dark Knight screen.
I don’t think that it could be a problem, when you lock the files like Transformers with DRM or something else (dunno)
So I have to stay here with my Nokia N96 and my own converted Dark Knight

Oliver on 4 September 2008:
I hope there’ll be a software update soon, because I had a few bugs the last days.
And I’m not really satisfied with the battery.
Have to charged it one to two times a day.
Hope this gets better, otherwise I have to buy a USB-charger to be online on all confs
Mark Guim on 4 September 2008
two times a day is one too many. i can handle charging a phone every night, but two is just too much. Anyone else can comment on actual battery life and the type of usage usage?
Oliver on 5 September 2008
But I have to say, that I used the video recording suite and the DVB-H Live TV (which is probably really requiring lot of battery time)
I’m not with Nokia, that they put the 950mah battery in the N96, it is the same mistake they made at the first N95.
john mortimer on 5 September 2008
please note that i watched 2 hours of video (included on the phone) on it and taken one 5 min call
and the phone is on full power
please note that DVB-H Live TV will kill the battery fast also it you had the bigger battery then it will only hlp with that for about 30min more max
Oliver on 4 September 2008:
It’s a shock for me to switch from the E90 which has a really good battery time to the N96.
I think I have to put my 2nd sim card in it to check my mails.
I don’t even think on IMAP-idle on the N96
ACM on 4 September 2008:

Hi everyone,
Today, my N96 limited edition come at my house (in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). It’s great !!!
Like they sad it comes inside a wood black box and with BH-503 headset. Also, they send a nice (?) black T-shirt !!!
At this time, I put my new gadget to be charged for some hours…and after that, I will be connected !!!
For some that do not receive your N96 yet…be patient !!! It comes to me , it will come to you !!!
ralph on 9 September 2008
Hi ACM,
Congrats!
Where did the N96 sent from?
Check the sender.
Sweden?
Im just curious, if all the N96 limited edition are coming from only One place.
Do they have a contact number as well or someone to email to?
Again, congratulations and enjoy N96, being one of the lucky ones.
Oliver on 9 September 2008
They were all coming von “Arlanda - Sweden”
I don’t have a direct contact number.
Ray on 5 September 2008:
Mine just came too. Phone’s fine, but the box was in pieces and dented at the corners. Looks like the hinges and clasp are just glued on - and not very well too! And one of the internal dividers has disintegrated into little fragments…
Doesn’t bode very well for the phone itself
The battery cover is incredibly flimsy, it feels half as thick as the one on my n82.
john mortimer on 5 September 2008
my box hasd some small damage to it
see my unboxing
also my 2 dividers are also in freagments
are you also in the uk
Mark Guim on 5 September 2008
Are you going to get them replaced? Let us know.
john mortimer on 5 September 2008
how do i go about doing that
are they not Limited Edition boxs
ay emails to get this fixed
Oliver on 5 September 2008:
Today I think the battery got better, I’m using the N96 now for at least 6 hours for power-using and calls and there’s no battery bar gone, so maybe even this type of battery has to calibrate.
Cheers,
Oliver
john mortimer on 5 September 2008:
has anyone got the NaviWheel wroking
Ray on 6 September 2008
Nope I’m not in the UK. Ordered mine in Australia but got it shipped to Singapore ’cause phones take forever to get released in oz.
Haven’t got the Naviwheel working either. Is it seriously running Feature Pack 2?? None of the ‘improvements’ save the new task menu seem to be working. I can’t turn on transitions either; it actually feels like a step back from my N82. Early firmware, perhaps.
