Nokia BH-604 Used As Wireless Headphones With Computer

You’ll never catch me wearing the bulky and ugly Nokia BH-604 bluetooth headset outside, but I’m pretty happy using it indoors as a wireless headphone. It was sent to me as a prize for the S60 Smarts Contest.

don't disturb

Let me give you an example how useful it is. Sheila was really sleepy, but I was wide awake. I wanted to finish watching a Smallville episode but didn’t want to disturb her. Solution? Use the Nokia BH-604 as a wireless headphone connected to the Apple iMac via bluetooth. Setting it up is too easy. Here’s how I did it with a Mac:

Put the BH-604 in pairing mode by holding the call button. A blue LED flashes. Under the bluetooth icon on the Mac, click ’set up Bluetooth Device.’

Set up bt Headset

I chose to use it as a headphone for this computer because that’s really all I need it to be.

When asked for a pairing code, the default is ‘0000.’ That’s it!

So even though I won’t be wearing it outside, I’m fine using the Nokia BH-604 as a wireless headphone when watching movies on our 24 inch iMac. Audio quality is fine, but I don’t have anything to compare it to. Would I recommend the BH-604? No… I like the form factor of the Nokia BH-603 better.

  • Heh, I know what you mean about not wearing them in public. I bought the Jabra 610s (something like that) bluetooth around-the-head kinda headfones. They're so goofy looking, I can't use them outside without feeling too... CYBER! They also work with my Macbook, BTW. Thanks for the review!
  • Im seriously interested in investing in a pair of these, for in the home use only of course.!

I have the Motorola S805 which are comparable in size to the Nokia BH-604 but it's all black which i think tones down the goofy look a bit. Anyway has anyone ever used the Nokia MD-7W? right now i am remodeling a house and i use my N82 to listen to music while working but often its not loud enough. Any thoughts on these speakers.

I have been using my Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-501 for years now whether at work connectet to my workstation or my work laptop or home laptop.

The quality is quite good but I used it more to free me from a physical attachment the computer or mobile.

There are times that I link it to my Nokia smartphone when I know I'll be on the phone chatting all night long. This frees me to move around my home and continue to multitask as I chat with friends.
  • I finally have a pair of these now, but having real problems getting them to work with my laptop :(
