Nokia N85 Photos From My Halloween
I made a mistake bringing the Nokia N85 to take pictures of the Halloween party we went to this weekend. I wanted to do a real life tests with the dual LED flash. My advice is that if you like the xenon flash on the cameraphone champion aka Nokia N82, you’ll be disappointed with the N85′s camera at night.
Take a look at the slideshow below for the photos taken with the Nokia N85. I’m the Ninja! Note: head straight to the blog if it’s not visible in your RSS reader.
Done looking? The photos aren’t horrible, but those are the best photos I selected to upload. Want to see how the bad pictures looked like? They are either blurry or flared out! I guess I got spoiled by the xenon flash on the Nokia N82.

Flares!

Too blurry

Hi Mark,
.
Please view this image: http://img65.imageshack.us/img65/5599/22049174cn4.jpg. Do you think that N85 has also “Xpress-on smart covers” like N79? Maybe it is a hidden feature of N85 like the accelerometer on N95-1
Rwishi on 3 November 2008:
No, those arent for the xpress on covers. That is actually used a connection between the back cover and the phone. The back cover contains an antenna, maybe the GPS antenna for better reception. It is the same as the Nokia N78 which has three antenna’s in its back cover.
Mark Guim on 3 November 2008:
an xpress smart cover won’t look good on the Nokia N85 because the top part would not match a different colored cover

Hehe the Halloween Party I went to, I took my N82 for pictures and my N96 for video. Wise Choice if I do say so myself

I went bar hopping halloween…none of my friends had brought an actual camera, so I whipped out my Nokia N82…pictures looked great with the Xenon flash! …On another note…I love the design of the N85 and keep craving to get one on Ebay..but everytime I take pictures with my N82, I am quickly reminded why I should hold off until the next Nseries with Xenon flash…=)
Andrew on 3 November 2008:
Hey Mark…kinda unrelated topic….but since we were talkin about photo comparisons of N82 to the N85…just wanted to ask you…does the 0.2 inch difference in screen size make a difference in terms of viewing stuff? e.g. Nokia/Google maps or videos?
Mark Guim on 3 November 2008:
The quality AND size of the display on the N85 is definitely much better than the N82 when it comes to viewing. 0.2 inch really does make a difference.

I’m disappointed with N85 camera, i didn’t know that it was awful at night, but the second picture even though it has flares in it looks like an art, oh my what am i thinking, even though it looks cool for me it shouldn’t be that way.
