How To: Make Shazam iD Work on Nokia N85, N96, N79, or Other FP2 Devices
I wrote earlier that Shazam iD is the most amazing app for Nokia S60. It lets you name any tune with the phone. However, I was shocked when I couldn’t get it to work on the Nokia N96 or the Nokia N85! After some trial and error, I found a way to make it work.

Name that tune with Shazam iD
While Shazam iD is open, go to options – settings, then turn off Audio Alerts. That’s it. Shazam iD should now work on your Nokia FP2 devices like the Nokia N85, N96, or N79.
I’m glad I have this application running again. You have no idea how many times I found myself hearing some random song on the radio or the mall hoping to find out the artist and title.
Got It Working?
Did you get this working on your FP2 device? Love it as much as I do?

I keep getting a Certificate Expired error while trying to load this on my Nokia N85. Did you do anything special to get it working? Thanks.
Rickyduck on 2 January 2009:
Brilliant! Cheers mate!
Matthew – Change your date to 02/01/2008 and it will work. Also, if you get an unsigned error, got to application manager in Apps- Utilities, go to options and turn off signings.
Aaron on 2 January 2009:
@Matthew Miller (aka palmsolo), I keep getting the same. Thus far I’ve been unsuccessful in getting this to work on my N78. Mark, is there anything specific you did when you initially installed this app on your N85?
Matthew Miller (aka palmsolo) on 2 January 2009:
@Aaron, after reading Mark’s other post on the application I tried resetting the date and installing the application. I found that using August 2007 worked just fine. After installing the application I then went back and changed the date back to today and it seems to work.
Is this a subscription-based application or is it a stand-alone application?
Mark Guim on 2 January 2009:
@Matthew Miller (aka palmsolo), it’s a standalone app. Changing the date to some time in 2007 seems to work when trying to install it. I’m not sure what the reason is, but some other apps are like this as well.
Aaron on 2 January 2009:
@Matthew Miller (aka palmsolo), Awesome! That worked perfectly. And thanks Mark for the post, I now have shazam on my N78!

It worked for me … only twice. Now I’m getting the error I used to get on my N95: “Error: Unable to get connection. Try again later.” A flakey piece of software, to be sure.
Sam on 9 January 2009:
I don’t suppose there’s any way to change the text colour of the song information which comes up? It doesn’t show up on my black background =/
pinyata on 9 January 2009:
@Sam, same problem. if u hit back or left it takes you to another screen with the name in it. anyone know a solution to this?
Mark Guim on 9 January 2009:
@Sam, that’d be a great option because I had to change my theme to something lighter to see the song titles.

if you have problem downloaded from the shazams site, go to http://rapidshare.com/files/100726577/S60team.sisx
and dowloaded.it works. if says sertificate error put your phone date in 2007 and after you install it change it back
