Quite the opposite: while Apple's OS is running at the peak of what can be achieved with it, Symbian can do way more than Apple's OS. You'll probably see better user interfaces coming on Symbian any day soon... The features on the Nokia N97 are far and far more advanced than the iPhone and Palm Pre. When it comes to that, the current iPhone is quite outdated (cam, GPS software that needs internet to have load maps, no full bluetooth, no Fm receiver, no compas, only 3208480 pixels screen, can only play iTunes files, no Flash plugin, no MMS, no 2nd camera for videocalling and the list can go on and on and on)... The Palm is a bit more advanced in its features, but also way, way, behind the Nokia. This N97 could never have been made 2 years ago! It has the most extreme features of all phones out there by far. But I agree on the very bad designed UI. Something that will probably improve drastically any day soon. Android hasn't impressed me at all yet, eventhough I do think it will be something promising for the future. Yet Symbina will remain the biggest. It has the biggest phone manufacter behind it, it's the strongest system with the most capabilities for expanding in the future. And next to that Finanacially, Nokia is extremely strong at the moment too.... Maybe you're from the USA, a country where Nokia has had little interest in releasing phones for. Then you might not know the strength that Nokia has worldwide. Nokia knows quite well what they are doing: dedicating phones at specific people, instead of trying the "one-phone-fits-as-many-people-as-possible" approach. You can expect more fance touch interfaces, with high show-off value any day soon, in 2009.
