Do You Carry Extra Batteries?

I know a couple of people who carry an extra battery in their wallet for their Nokia phones. They are really heavy users who tend to kill their phones earlier than the advertised battery life. Push email, while streaming music, while running GPS navigation, while running Sportstracker, while tweeting and recording live videos in between.

Nokia Batteries

Yes it’s all possible with Nokia phones running on S60, but kills the battery sooner than you want to. If you’re a heavy Nokia user, let us know what you do to drain your phone batteries quicker than normal. How do you deal with it? Have a another battery tucked in your wallet?

  • Always. No doubt.

I recommend using Procell batteries. They last very long and you probably won't have to carry spares unless of course you use your cellphone every second of the day.
  • Milko: where did you get desktop charger? I remember such chargers from 90's.

I always carry one extra battery in my wallet. I'm E90 user and need network access very often. I just can't depend on only one battery which might be not so full when I have to run out.

I have 3 batteries for the Nokia 6133 and 2 for N800 plus I carry an AC charger for both and plug in if I'm going to be anywhere for longer than an hour.

If there's an outlet, get out of my way I'm commandeering it :)
  • I never use the second battery for my nokia 1630,and I charge the battery once a week:)
  • I have the 5310 xpressmusic and I have 2 batteries with me since one battery can be drained after eight hours of music and EDGE (no 3G), and of course calls. And I really enjoy it.
  • Interesting post. Batteries can be totally reliable or unreliable. Its a matter of getting the correct brand. Especially for aa lithum battery, important to get long lasting ones.

On my N81 it kills more in texting about 2days.
but when gaming it only stands 4hours-6hours of gaming. I dont need to carry extra battery coz all I need is charger.I will charge it for 30min - 1hour then it will be having a life again of up to 4hours.
  • I have bought a 2000 mAh battery for my Nokia N95 8GB and it works for me. I don't mind the bump at the back. It's a small offer for the extra jus.

@Digiplace, Are the batteries genuine Nokia batteries, or are they 3rd party/aftermarket?
  • @Jeff, they are 3rd party/aftermarket

Quick question, where do you guys buy the extra battery from? I am looking for the BL-5K for the N85. Thanks!

I also use the Proporta USB Charger. Works great for when I shoot long videos.
  • explode** and I have the proporta USB charger. not that I carry it with me all the time, but on activity-filled days I carry it with me.
  • I have an extra battery but it's so puffed it could in any minute.

When the battery is running low, I usually disable 3G, auto rotation and turn the screen to the lowest brightness. and most of the time it works.

I use only a N95, but using wi-fi and GPS, my battery drains in two hours. The extra battery if for the rest of the day.
  • I carry the N95-3 and an IOGear mobile charger. The good thing about the IOGear mobile charger is that you can charge it with a standard nokia charger or usb, so you don't have to carry around multiple chargers.
  • I just carry multiple devices ... even the E71 can't make it a full day if you go out in the evening and use it heavily.

I carry my charger around with me in my pocket. i'd sit in a mall or any place recharging. or even yank the battery from my other phone to power the more important one

I have a N82 Mostly i connect to the WiFi and Listen to music for atleast 2-3 hrs a day the battery lasts me for merely 24hrs.

    Planning to buy another battery.....
  • No extra batteries for me. The TSA doesn't allow loose batteries as carry on for the plane. I usually carry a charger (AC or car) with me. The E71 will last me at least a day with heavy usage so it works out.

@anotheran, I carry two extra E71 batteries in my briefcase (got them cheap on Ebay), I've never been questioned. I believe it's laptop batteries which can't go in checked baggage, there's no limitation on batteries in carry-on.
  • @Cyclone i just checked up online and you're right. TSA doesn't allow lithium batteries in checked in baggage. That totally opens the door to me having a few batteries for my N82!

I also use more than one device, n85 for music, photo and navigation and n810 for blogging, surfing and streaming music. But I always have my chargers with me at all time when on the road so I won't end up with a dead unit. To bad now I have to have two diffrent because of the n85 micro usb charging. :(

Yep, chucking an extra battery into the pocket is now part of my regular daily routine... originated from the N95 days, where i really would need the extra battery during the day, but since i've switched to the N82, I find the battery actually lasts the whole day, with a decent amount of browsing, GPS, VOIP calling etc ... practical use stuff...

Proporta goes in the travel bag for big trips, but usually 1 extra (ebay cheapo special) battery is in the pocket... small, and good security
