Nokia App Store To Be Announced At MWC 09

According to Eldar Murtazin, the same guy who brought the Nokia N97 review 5 months early, the Nokia App Store will be one of the major announcements at Mobile World Congress 2009, Feb 16th-19th. He claims it has been running privately and used it already.

Nokia app Store

I’m not sure where Unwired View quoted Eldar, but they quoted him saying:

At first glance, for now, the app portal looks so so, there is some confusion. But they are trying, polishing it and a lot has changed for the better in a matter of days. A right step in a right direction… And the distribution and revenue sharing model between app makers and Nokia looks very attractive.

If this is true, this is good news for Nokia owners wanting to find more applications to install. Apple’s App Store definitely set a very high standard, so I can’t wait to see how Nokia’s own store compares.

having come over from the winmo world to a nok 5800 (which, btw, i am still loving after two weeks), the dearth of software is shocking. i don't need a bunch of junk in my phone, but an app along the lines of winmo "pocket informant" which i used extensively, would make the 5800 into all the business phone i need. as long as i can open .pdf's and .doc's and listen to voice mail attachments, that's all the business functions i need.

Hope they have Apps for more than phones.

I have a N800 that could use a few things beyond what's in the repositories.
