Nokia 5800 NAM Arriving at the US Flagships Feb. 25th

I just got word from a reliable informant that the Nokia 5800 NAM is arriving at the US flagships tomorrow afternoon and that “they will probably start selling them around 3PM.” We were first to break that the price will be $399 USD. I don’t think there will be lines because I haven’t heard of any official announcements. This information is as accurate as a delivery tracking information… don’t believe until it shows up on your door.

I called the store to confirm, but a sales rep denied knowing anything. Our source told us the information is very accurate unless something wrong happens to the shipment. Call the store beforehand to avoid disappointment. By the way, congratulations to those who pre-ordered the phones while they were $339-359. Those coupons are not working anymore. Will you be visiting the store?

I received my valentine Nokia 5800 order 3 days ago and not happy with it at all as the 3G does not work as expected. Suddenly stops working and if I restart the phone 3G starts working again. Touch screen experience is horrible.

This morning the price was indeed 359. Now it's 399, but you can actually see how theey switch the price tags, the ones they have now looks like the were inserted later in different fashion soft of.

@Paul, refresh your cookies. That is a cached page. Its $399. I just checked AGAIN on 3 different browsers- InternetExplorer, Mozilla Firefox & Google Chrome.

Try clicking the "buy online tab" instead of the
"Pre-order now" graphic on the homepage. The "Pre-order now button takes you to the phone page which still shows $399.00.

On my invoice from the 14th it lists the price as $399 with "Today's Savings: $39.90" Maybe it works the same way now.

@Mark Guim, it was 359 an hour ago, and now it is 399. The photo still shows 359, but cart now shows 399. What's going on?

@Mark Guim, Have either of you actually added this to the cart? Its $399. I am not crazy. I know what I am seeing. Even when I go directly to NokiaUSA.com and navigate through to preorder, the entire time it is telling me $399... Right now I have 2 of these in a cart & it says $798 is my subtotal

The Nokia site has a press release stating that the 5800 went on sale in the US today (27th).

The USA web site has dropped the price to $359, but still has it listed as a pre-order.

I wonder about the people who ordered after the Valentines special but before the price drop?

Are they going to pay $40 extra on top of the phone being shipped late?

@Paul, Dude, check your facts first. I JUST went to the website & it still shows $399. Perhaps you are reading something about the promo where it was $359

I read another blog where someone claimed that his order status was showing that it had shipped.

Has anyone else seen this? Mine still shows "backordered".

I am sure that the people are Nokia customer service are pretty sick of us calling. Maybe if they didn't BOTCH the launch of this phone, we wouldn't be calling so much. EVERY company I have ever preordered something from has had it in my hands either the day before or day of its release. I haven't used a Nokia in about 6 years. This really is putting a bad taste in my mouth. When I called today to change my shipping address (I am moving on Monday), they were quite rude about how they wouldn't be able to do it.

I learned my lesson, next time if i get a phone from nokia I'll just wait to be released in the stores, rather then pre-ordering it.

I got a call from both flagship stores(Chicago & NY) to tell me that they have the NAM version in-stores today. I called nokia and they dont have an idea to when our pre-orders are going to ship out.

I called Nokia today, and they said it will be shipped in another week or so..and I pre-ordered mine..so it kind of confuses me why the pre-order? i mean doesn't pre-order mean you get it on the same day as it is released? if thats the case I am disappointed with nokia.and to tell the truth, the guy was kind of rude as well.

All this talk about the 5800. How about the N97 that is taking so long to get to market that it'll be outdated by the time it drops? I really want the N97...
