New York Flagship Store Takes Nokia 5800 NAM Off Shelves Amidst Reported Issues
I went to the New York flagship store this afternoon to look for the Nokia 5800 NAM. Unfortunately, I was told it was no longer available for purchase because of reported issues. I’m guessing it’s about the complaints of not getting 3G signal. A sales associate told me Nokia is trying to figure out what’s wrong. In the meantime, you can leave your number with the store, and they’ll call when it is back on the sales floor.

When I asked whether they sold plenty of the Nokia 5800 NAM’s already, the response was, “No, because it was only available for a span of 7 hours.”
At first, I thought the reports were just rumors, but it sounds like Nokia knows about it. I wonder if we’ll get an official press release soon. I’m also curious what’s going on inside those heads who pre-ordered through the Nokia USA online store. Are you still looking forward to receiving the phone and hope it’s not broken?

I don’t mind waiting for my pre ordered 5800 as long as they fix all their issues and send me one without any defects.
But also I do believe we as consumers should know what is going on and why it is taking so long for us to get our phones! I’m looking for that press release!

I’ve had my Nokia 5800 Blue APAC/HK for 3 months now. Never had any of the reported problems but there has yet to be a firmware update to the v20. So a few days ago I flashed the entire phone over to a Euro 2 Blue spec and got the v20 firmware update! Wow what an improvement. IMO the phone is great!!!

I bought my 5800 unlocked from http://www.puremobile.com/Nokia/Nokia-5800-Xpre… and I haven't had any problems what so ever. You should really make sure you get the NAM version if your in north america or in a country that uses 850/1900/2100 for calls and 3G serivce.
