I have had the N85 for almost a year and its screen has broken twice, the lock key has detached, a lot of scratches bottom of the numeric keypad and two big scratches on the lens which are result from the lens cover.

Sorry about bad English, I'm Finnish.

Unfourtunately, I am on my second N85 after the first one was declared unfixable after about 6 months. This unit now will not charge.
While I love the engineering of the phone, I think that the QC is horrible.

Exactly the same problem with my n85. The front bottom panel was lifting up without proper glue. After 5 days I just got adhesive and carefully
stuck it myself

Regarding the slider wobbling....it's terrible.. deep shit.

Performance was awesome except it hangs sometimes and the music player and the photo viewer has problems. I loaded some 800 pictures and as i am browing it, the pics fail to convert them to thumbnail properly and the images are blurred and the back button fails to respond.

Hope this can be resolved by a new firmware. Hope nokia takes care of it

I bought a N85-1 from Ebay via Mark's tips on the Live Cashback and Ebay coupon. The thing had a slight wobble and after a month the front plate also cracked in the same place. The earpiece also died on me. Good thing I put a warranty on it through Square Trade so I was able to get my full money back (and I also got extra from the Live Cashback...cool!)

Then I bought a N85-3 NAM from Dell, again via Mark's tip. That N85 is very solid....no wobble at all. I've had it for 2 months now and no cracks or scratches have developed either. I really think they improved production on the NAM version. I am in love with my N85 again.

The thing had a slight wobble and after a month the front plate also cracked in the same place. The earpiece also died on me. Good thing I put a warranty on it through Square Trade so I was able to get my full money back (and I also got extra from the Live Cashback…cool!)

Then I bought a N85-3 NAM from Dell, again via Mark’s tip. That N85 is very solid….no wobble at all. I’ve had it for 2 months now and no cracks or scratches have developed either. I really think they improved production on the NAM version. I am in love with my N85 again.

I've had my N85 since November and I have the same scratches on the keypad. No cracks though. My N85 is barely functional, so scratches are the least of my problems with it.

hmm i saw an n85 where the silver multimedia key had come out, i can't imagine this would ever happen on my n96. Build is solid and still works after loads of drops and being covered in water twice, although the camera flash has stopped working

The build quality is not perfect at all. The Eseries are much better on build quality than all the Nseries, despite I own a N78 and for now it has no problems.
