Taking High Contrast Black & White Photos On Nokia 5800

I briefly mentioned on my Nokia 5800 review of hardware that it was quick to play with camera settings due to the touchscreen. I really like the look and feel of high contrast black & white photos. My wife thinks it looks artistic. I’ll share some of the photos I took so you can try it out yourself.

Nuts4Nuts

To get this look, go to settings, select black and white for color tone, then increase the contrast level to your liking. I found it much faster to do the adjustments with the Nokia 5800 than using the D-pad on my previous non-touch cameraphones.

The photos below were taken with the Nokia 5800 and had no retouching done. What I like about high contrast B&W photos are the dramatic feeling they seem to portray even if the photographer doesn’t mean to say anything. Try taking this style of photos and let me know if you like the results. I want to see what you come up with, so share your links to your photos in the comments.

Looks like some of the pictures have got more glare than others. You kept on changing the contrast or it just came out like this?
  • I adjusted the contrast on each pic. Too much contrast made some pics too dark.
