Nokia N97 Limited Edition Antitheft Device Heading This Way
The Nokia N97 has been getting a lot of attention is becoming even more desirable. The kind folks over at WOMWorld Nokia were nice enough to tell me they sent over a very special Limited Edition Antitheft device that should be arriving in the mail soon so I can protect it.
Rumored Nokia N97 Mini With Smaller Screen, Changed Keyboard, & No Lens Cover
Here’s an interesting surprise… a rumored Nokia N97 Mini gets pictured in the wild. It seems to have a smaller body, smaller screen, omitted lens cover, and a different keyboard layout. I think I might like the keyboard, but I’m not sure about a smaller touchscreen. We’ll have to wait if this is indeed a real device.

Nokia N97 Camera Flash Useless After 45 Days
After a month of using the Nokia N97, minor scratches appeared on camera lens which didn’t really affect photo quality. This past weekend (approx. 45 days of usage), I notice photos that used flash were washed out on one side. It looks like more scratches appeared on the lens that are now affecting the photos.
Youtube App for S60v5 on Nokia N97
Youtube came out with an application for S60v5, and I want to show you how it looks. I think it is optimized for the Nokia 5800 because they don’t show the Nokia N97 as a supported device. It works fine though. Take a look.
Yet Another Nokia N97 Compass Calibration Trick
Thanks to reader RobertH for pointing that you don’t need to turn off the auto-rotate to calibrate the compass faster on the Nokia N97. Just turn on the keylock and rotate the wrists. I tried it and it works! Check out the video demo below.
Washed Out Night Photos? Try Wiping the Lens
Notice some washed out photos when using the flash? It could be caused by smudge on your lens. I noticed this while taking a photo inside a party. A simple cleaning of the lens fixed the problem. Take a look.
Video How To: Calibrate Nokia N97 Compass in Seconds
Compass calibration on the Nokia N97 is a lot faster now. When I first got the Nokia N97, I complained about how long it takes the Nokia N97 to calibrate the compass. A video from Symbian World showed they did it in 3 seconds, but I was unable to reproduce the same result just by flicking my wrist. The trick was to turn off the auto-rotate sensor too. Watch how I did it.
What Nokia are You Using Now and Which are You Looking Forward To?
I’ve been asking my new Twitter followers what Nokia phone they are currently using and which are they looking forward to. I’m surprised that the majority of those who responded still currently use the Nokia N95. The phone they are looking forward to vary, but most say the Nokia N97. Let me also ask the question here.
