Mark, take a photo of a fan moving at high speeds or some birds flying so people can see what 1/1000 is really like. The pics you took were good, but they weren't super-action-pics that 1/1000 can freeze

I checked the exposure times on some photos I took on my N78. It seems that prior phones have been capable of doing these fast exposure times as well (set at auto as well). For close up shots, I see slow times of 1/15s or 1/24s. For distance shots I see 1/1000s. I even see exposure times of 1/1000000s on distance shots in the EXIF data as well.

That's pretty impressive. I wonder what other tests you could do with the N97's camera to compare it to normal cameras.
