Youtube App Updated to 2.2.17 – Centered Videos

Youtube just updated their S60 app to version 2.2.17. I’ve installed it on my Nokia N97 and made a video to show you how it looks. The main difference I noticed from the previous version is that the option bar on the right disappears to play videos in the middle. Unfortunately, there’s still no option for full-screen viewing.

You can also watch this video in HD on Youtube.

The download should be available at m.youtube.com. If you own a Nokia N97 and do not see the link, Nokia Addict provided a direct link here: http://bit.ly/yt2217

  • N97 might be the most used phone for little rich kids.

On the device install dialog it says that the version is 2.0.2.17 and not 2.2.17 ? Where did error in the versioning came from ?
  • How about when you go to: "About" within the app?

Hmm seems like a "minor" detail ... yet enough for me to not ins tall it this time ... I 've had some experiences with apps on my N95 when it was just released ... I quess I ll wait till Google makes it officially supported app ... Thanks for the link anyway ...

Well the ipod touch has bigger screen than the N97, it's wider and web browsing it's better.
  • Updated version does support full screen videos. Widescreen videos on youtube will appear full screen... others will be centered padded with black color.
  • Thanks for the link, couldn't get the update anywhere..

some of the videos are indeed in full screen and some not!!!!

ok, i have just realized, some of the videos are in fullscreen, and some have black pads on both left and right side. that's because of the aspect ratio, i guess;)

of course it has a full screen viewing option!!! I've been using it for days already!:)
