Mobile Computing to me, simply means having access to all features of a laptop in a device that can go where a laptop is not convient or is impossible to take,

Mobile Computing means peace of mind. Peace of mind in knowing that wherever you are, whenever it is, you have all that power in your pocket. Power that's only limited by your own imagination and creativity.
jhay89 on 19 September 2009:
To some Mobile Computing can be described as, “On the Go, instant access to the Internet.” For me on the other hand, it means more than that. It’s a way of life that is intertwined in our everyday activities. I think Mobile Computing has brought everyone closer together. In an instance, we can let everyone know what we’re doing, or what’s going on with the world. Mobile Computing is evolving and who knows where it will go, but what I know is it has greatly impact the way I enteract with the world.

Mobile Computing is the way of living. An addiction. You can't live without it. A couple of years ago I was laugh on people carrying huge analog NMT mobiles, but nowadays I can't go to the toilet without my symbian smartphone in my hands. Yes, it's an addiction. Makes my life easier, widening my relationships, fastening my communication, helping my job, but it's an addiction. No less or more.

Mobile computing means everything to me. Period. Never before in human history has Man ever had access to so much information, or had so many tools at his immediate disposal. Mobile computing represents the ongoing advancement of civilization as a whole. That is to say that it creates a more egalitarian society, a place where not only the privileged few have access to information. Everyone can become a scholar, if they so desire. Mobile computing also more tightly connects us to family and friends. A long, cumbersome task a hundred years ago; now family can be reached in seconds, through a variety of different mediums — Phone, Email, Text, Tweets, etc. To put it simply, mobile computing, is my lifeline to the world.
Marco on 19 September 2009:
Mobile Computing is freedom AND addiction.
You are free from wires, free from specific places to be, and to be extreme, free from a computer : just pop your smartphone from your pocket to get your Email, work files, internet, entertainment, music etc…
You can get nearly everything you use on a computer on your smartphone.
That's why mobile computing is taking a central place in people's lifestyle. It brings you everything you need 24-7 wherever you are : that's what people want.
BUT mobile computing brings trouble in people exchanges : As you use social networks, IM and Emails, you lose real contact with your friends. Your friends are becoming virtual. So your life is.
As you use mobile computing at work, you can't totally disconnect from it. You are getting stressed. You continue to get professional tasks to do at home, or during holidays. It creates addiction.
Then, we can ask ourselves : Is mobile computing ALWAYS a good thing ?
Thank you for reading! Marco

Andrew Fujimura on 19 September 2009:
Mobile computing means a new level of technical and social connection. I convergence of technology and society in a way never possible before. I can now have a computer, music player, camera, and in fact most of the worlds information available at my finger tips. Mobile computing allows my friends and I to live in the now. I tell my life's story as I go with photos, videos and status updates immediately. I can track my own location and so can my friends. I can share my media, music, videos or photos just by pulling a phone out of my pocket. I can be as knowledgeable as anyone on most topics just by checking google or wikipedia, again instantly. Of course my friends can also call, text or e-mail me instantly. So I guess what mobile computing means to me is instantaneous communication and information, allowing us to better interact with the world we live in. The main reason I use a Nokia is so that I have a decent camera available at all times, because as its been said: “The best camera is the one you have on you at the time.”
What an interesting a provocative question, thank you for this opportunity and your continued efforts with the site.

buddymunster on 19 September 2009:
Mobile Computing to me means to be efficient with your work and travel. For example, you get a push email that a meeting location has changed, but they don't tell you the address. You can easily search via google the meeting location and apply to Ovi maps or search directly from Ovi maps. Within minutes you are on your way to your location.
Furthermore, mobile computing as its name suggest is to essentially have a mini-computer in the palm of your hand and be online accessible. Like what Nokia's slogan “connecting people”. If you can get connect via push email, text, location finder or Ovi maps, you can get much work done and be efficient.
Productivity tools and storage is an added plus, to store vital documents and presentation on your phone, have access to send them over the air within seconds.
Pictures and MP3 are a plus and gives a pleasant breather between work.
The Key is Efficiency!
Make the most of your time with your device.

Jesse on 19 September 2009:
Mobile computing can be seen as a change in society which requires a person to be available 24/7 day or night without fail. Back in the day if you went on vacation from work you did not worry about what was happening back at the office or if they needed you. Now it does not matter if you are on vacation, sleeping, or even in the bathroom you are at the constant beck and call of others who desire your attention.
Some people may say that mobile computing has created a more efficient society but efficient for who? The answer is simple. It is not the users who have become more efficient but those who want the attention of the users.
nickelz on 19 September 2009:
Mobile computing refers to being effecient in staying connected with your everyday responsiblities without the need of excess; in the sense that you dont have to carry around multiple pieces of physical hardware to acheive the same goal. Its implies the sense of freedom from wires, desks, laptops and other oversized hardware, multiple electrical outlets and extension cords, and the feeling of being tied down to one specific location. I guess this can all be summed up in the ability to accomplish and achieve; from necessary greatness in the most remote and obscure locations, to the unimportant and mundane tasks in your neighborhood starbucks, and all of this provided to all who wish it in the palm of their hand.
ibodnano on 19 September 2009:
Mobile computer = Mobile phone + Netbook computer
Mobile phone = A phone to connect to people and the world, the key to mobile phone success is the Operating System running on the mobile phone and its easy-to-use User Interface, if possible, make it a phone for the even three-year-old kids.
Netbook Computer = A machine that is much powerful and capable than mobile phone in all areas. Considering the size of computer and the lack of phone capability, I can say that mobile computer can not be replaced by the netbook computer, but the mobile computer can replace the netbook computer! N900 is a good example
All our beloved Nokia needs to do is to make the gap between the mobile phone and netbook computer as closer as possible.
Nokia all the way, thenokiablog live forever.

to me,mobile computing means mobile access all in one device which allows me to do all the things i love such as listening to music, taking pictures, surfing the net, and even talking to my friends. Without it I'd be stuck with a bunch of devices and waste more money than I should. Portability and easy access is key as the world continues to develop. That is what the n97 brings to the table.
omata on 19 September 2009:
For me…
Having the best of both world but with added value, I mean, best mobility with a good amount of power computing. In context we can talk about mobile phones, Netbooks or Laptops, all of these can be considered for mobile computing, some times I can reach the optimal performance in my job doing tasks with two or more mobile devices, on other occasions I can accomplish any labor just with my smartphone. All these concepts fit within this topic, but there is no real epitome when we talk about portable, mobile or all in one devices, there is no dream device that can do any kind of things in the palm of your hand, it is yet to come. Meanwhile the mobility is only a concept that involves the use of mobile tools, which will eventually choose to do a job, then up to us to choose which devices to use to be effective not only for an work, if not for all. It is a lifestyle and a necessity in these times.
I apologize for my English, I'm not very good speech, so I could not do the video for this contest.

Mobile computing to me is my second brain in the pocket.
It can do many tasks that brain can do. The most favorite one is calculator. I use it so frequently that I sometimes forget how to divide simple numbers. Next, it can take pictures which will leave my first brain spaces to memorize something else. Pictures are very good memory recaller. When we take glance over them we can easily recall what that event was. Also, its clock, calendar and reminder features ease up my first brain. Just assign them what to do once, then I do not have to memorize what things I have to do. Later, it will remind me what I have to do next. In addition, map navigation and GPS ability navigate my world. No more paper map and wasted time on finding places manually; it is tiring. With mobile computing, I can just simply type the places I want and click search. The results shows up on the screen. Moreover, it entertains me. Video games, music, video and other media contents are readily in my pocket. If I want anything just simply access to the Internet and grab it effortlessly. Last but not least, its ability to communicate with other people on the go. It can make phone calls, send SMS text, and connect to the rest of the world through Internet connection which allow me to update my facebook status, check RSS feeds and many things no matter where I am. My second brain eases up my first brain. It allows my first brain to focus on higher-level tasks which will improve the way we live.

Power, freedom, flexibility, convenience, discovery and fun!
Mobile computing enables me to connect to my work computer through a VPN connection from the most remote areas, and dazzle peers in the conference room. Take breaking news photographs and send them to the news organizations. We get up-to-date weather information while working in hurricanes. Wireless voice, texting, chat and email help me mobilize and inform my team of multimedia journalists for news and sporting events.
Mobile technology allows me to use those few spare minutes during busy work days to keep in touch with friends and family who never see often enough. It helps me relax and unwind with an entertaining video or a soothing song. Sometimes, I can sneak a photo of my beautiful wife bathed in the late afternoon light outside a cafe that we discovered online and found with GPS. Hopefully before she scowls at me for taking it. I can share that photo with my in-laws quickly and easily.
On the weekends while instructing and driving at the race track, mobile computing helps me and my students learn to drive faster. Using GPS data and brilliant software, I get live lap times and record comprehensive session data. I can share my in car or bumper mounted videos with my friends on a nice display.
Mobile computing helps me think of doing things in new and different ways. It helps me innovate. It motivates me to explore and learn.
It helps me work, play, and love. It helps me live, and become who I want to be. Anytime. Anywhere.

I remember when I first got my job. I was making more money than I ever had before in my life! Keep in mind, $16 an hour for a college student was a dream come true! It was great! I was able to buy things that I normally wouldn't even dare to look at because of their price tag. But on this one occasion I decided to splurge.
I was searching for the top smartphones of 2008. The Apple iPhone had all my friends buzzing, but it was more of a fashion accessory that people would just flaunt around the malls. The BlackBerry Bold was a powerful, growing hype machine at the time, but was more for the business class than a student like myself. And HTC phones had me drooling, but the best ones were only available outside of the US. What I wanted was a phone that could literally make my life easier and add a pinch of flavor to my boring everyday routine.
With money from a weeks worth of hard work, I bought myself the Nokia N95 8gb. Not too flashy, but still sexy to look at. Not too business like, but still powerful enough to get my tasks done. Plus it had one hell of a kickbutt 5 megapixel camera to take some snaps whenever the urge came over me to “capture the moment”.
It was my personal tour guide with its GPS whenever my friends and I had the munchies and needed to find the nearest fast food restaurant or when I got lost in a big city. It was my lifeline whenever I needed quick references online for exams(I did not use it for cheating, I swear >_<). It was my karaoke machine whenever I wanted to crank up the tunes while studying. And best of all, it helped me stay connected with friends a loved ones via e-mail or sms texting no matter where I was or what I was doing.
Sadly, just two months ago, my phone had breathed it's last breath as I was trying to run away from a wave of ocean water during a going-away party at the beach, but ended up getting soaked and covered with salt water. The victim at hand…my precious $550 Nokia N95 8gb. The inside of my phone had been eroded by salt water. I lost all my music I had on there, pictures, videos, and contact numbers that weren't saved onto my SIM card.
Now, I'm using a less-than-stellar, 5-6 year old phone given to me by my mom. One of those “free” phones you get when you sign up for a family plan with your service provider. It has a broken hinge that my dad helped me glue back together, and it looks like its been ran over, thrown in a ditch, left to rot, and still survived after all these years to be my lovely replacement phone.
So what does mobile computing mean to me? For nearly two years, I could honestly say that the N95 8gb made my life more productive, easier, and a heck of a lot more enjoyable!
Rest In Peace.
My N95 8gb. You will be missed.

Mobile Computing to me means the following:
1. Ability to manage my work and life seamlessly
2. Ability to do everything that I would have done on a computer, of course, I realize what to expect from a handheld and am willing to make those sacrifices without compromising on the quality of the work.
3. If my work requires me to do some work online, my phone should be able to do that. It should be able to log in to my company's intranet without compromising on security.
4. create and share content online effortlessly.
5. My mails seamless.
6. proper editing for excel files.
That's it, apart from calling and texting, if I am able to do this much, I would feel like carrying my laptop with me everytime!!

Mobile computing means getting all the things done on the go and staying connecting with my friends and family all the time. Here is the typical daily usage scenario. It is showing that without mobile computing my life
would be totally different
7:00 wake up by an alarm on my phone. Phone: Turn on the phone?
– Yes!
Fire up twitter to see what my friends are doing first by looking in my personal account and then looking what is new in the world of Nokia by looking in my other account (twitter nickname: zvak) where I follow thenokiablog, symbianguru, MickyFin, Nokiausers, nokiAAddict, rafeblandford, nokiamessaging, stevelitchfield, S60mobi, chansearrington, nokconv, nokiamobiletalk, nokiabetalabs, janole, qtbynokia, PeterMaemo, maemoguru, WeAreMaemo, maemomobiletalk and others. It is like having your personal Nokia newspapers
Then I check other non Nokia news by looking at the many sources of news: Twitter trends, Google news and others.
And all this is done while brushing my teeths, taking a breakfast and kissing my wife goodbye
Depending on the amount of news all this is going through my home wireless connection while I am at home so having WiFi module in a mobile phone is really important to me. Getting out and the 3G is taking over.
7:40 I'm at the bus going to train station brushing to remaining news.
8:00 I'm at the train sitting and relaxing. Fire up podcasting app and listening or watching a podcast is a real pleasure. Here is my list of podcasts: AllAboutSymbian, Engadget, Gdgt, Diggnation are my favorites but there are many others.
9:00 I'm at my work, phone is set to Office profile.
While at work I use it to record some important meetings so I can go through them if I forget something. It is usually only audio but sometimes I use video.
18:00 Going back home is usually the same as going to work only in opposite direction. So checking news, twitts and listening and watching to podcast is a go
Usually then I check the Facebook and what my friends are doing as the day is almost full and there is a lot of new info on FB by then
Also I upload pictures I took throughout the day usually to Facebook.
That is only what I do on work days but on weekends it is a whole other story. I use GPS and Nokia Maps or Google maps while hiking or going cycling. While I'm running or cycling Nokia Sports Tracker is indispensable tool. While I'm in some new and unexplored city I use GPS and maps a lot. I wouldn't survive without it. Finding hotel or getting around at 2am would be extremely difficult without it
This is just a small cut from my daily life with mobile computing
Saying all that, having a good powerful mobile computer is a must for my daily life.

Well well, got a little too long there
, i hope you’ll like it
I remember getting my first Symbian phone… It was the 6260 and at that time, I'd say it was state of the art… The twistable, large screen, at least it was large for me cause I used to have a tiny Siemens before that. Over time I familiarised myself with the Symbian and eventually got a data cable to transfer all the precious themes and apps, what I had dowloaded from the internet, to my phone.
Over time Nokia developed new phones with new features and designs. When the new N-series phone – N95 was launched I immediatly started to drool over it, however at that moment it was way out of my reach because of the insane price tag.
In the same year, in the summer I went to work in Finland, hoping to earn some hard cash and what do you know, when I was finished with my “summer contract” I had more than enough money to buy myself that glorious phone. Of course at first I had doubts like “Is it worth it” and so on, however after the purchace I never regretted it.
Now i really understood what mobile computing meaned, I could just toss my MP3 player onto the shelf to wait for a better time. Since then I just couldn't imagine my life without a little helper in my pocket. Every now and then I need to make some quick notes but I never have a notepad with me, so I open and fill up my tiny calender on my phone and before I know it, It tells me to do my chores, send a happy birthday card to a friend or pay a visit to the dentist and that is just the beginning. Only a single click from my phone's camera can save me up a lot of time by taking a picture of a certain page from a book rather than writing a copy to my own and even better, I can share the same info with friends over bluetooth or via sharing services to people who didn't make it to the lesson and of course… if I start to die in boredom I simply go online and enjoy the fast 3G net.
Moreover enjoy travelling, I have been all around Europe and from time to time travelling involves long bus trips. Of course eveyone are prepared for it, some have Ipods, others again portable DVD players which I find are rather tedious to carry around. I just slide out my phone, open up the multimedia menu, select a movie and watch it with a friend and when we decide to go out in the evening we never get lost because there's always a GPS to show us home.
This is my vision of mobile computing, I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Mobile computing meant very much to me, I can keep myself close to my friend whether when i'm not with them all the time, I can blog them through Facebook, Myspace and Bebo. Never loose a moment of my precious time with my love one and when ever I am with them, I can keep a snapshot or video as a token to remind me the good time with my friends and family then share it Online or print it then send it to my oversea relatives. I basically cannot live a day without computer, but Mobile computing solving this problem for me.
It is very small and act like a PDA at my finger tip. I can listening to my favorite musics and watch my videos. Never holding a phone when you never know how to use its full potential. This phone would make my day feel like a sunny day every day. Make the rainy day turn to a funny day. Make my lovely day to a memorable day. Smartphone Mobile Computing is in our blood. For me, mobile computing is basically all about staying in touch with my family and friends. In particular my immediate family – I travel a lot, globally (live in the US, travel to Indonesia, China, various parts of Europe, Latin America etc.), and being away from my boys (now two, we had our second child 2 weeks ago!!!) drives me nuts – I do miss my wife too of course. So for me, mobile computing is not so much computing as it is (I know, I sound like a Nokia ad… ) about being able to call my boys (and the wife, have to remember to say that everytime.. lol), send them a good night text, send them some pictures I took during the day between meetings, geotagged so they can learn where daddy is.. I also share (I actually use Share a fair bit – am I strange?) pics on line with them, but also with my larger family that all live back in Finland where I am originally from.
The other part is of course browsing tech blogs on the go (I just passed my 3,000th post on M-R forum.. not sure if that is only sad or a good thing at least a bit too), listening to Rush (err.. that I should probably not mention) or some other great music, whether right here in DC on the bus, or when I am on the road somewhere. And sometimes when I am lost, the GPS helps me to get there too.
It is amazing, isn't, what it already is. I remember going “wow” with the first color screens on phones.. haha..
Anyway, that's it for me – lots of great responses from others here too.

I can say my thought regarding mobile computing in a short essay. Mobile computing for me is putting my world in my pocket. I can bring all the fun and needs in my mobile phone.
Music is my passion to express my self, my feelings and my thoughts. Whenever I'm home I always love to listen in my compiled music, watch movies and browse the web for fun. My desktop computer give me that needs long time ago. But now I have my phone Nokia N81 that I can bring along with me, put in my pocket and it is like putting my whole world to it. I just need an headset for music, ready to connect web and just snap some pictures then share with my peers in many social network.
It is mobile computing for me, putting my world in my mobile phone and in my pocket.

Mobile computing and what it means to me. Well, Mobile computing has to be like everyone's view of God…. everyone's view is different!
It is of course, in your pocket. It is easy. It is fast. It doesn't take a tech degree to figure it out. It doesn't take reading a bunch of forums to make the mobile computing work the way I want. It lets me connect with friends in anyway I can imagine….. when I want. It empowers me to find any information I want…. FAST. It gets me where I need to go. It looks sexy. It makes me look sexier. My friends all want one. It organizes my life and work. It connects my life and work together…. when I want. It saves me money from buying multiple devices cause its an all in one. It takes and shares my life via GREAT photos. It plays my music… AWESOMELY. It entertains me when I am bored… or at work, or not bored and should be working but I can't put the sexy little thing down. It lets me know the weather. It takes the stress out of life by simply syncing with no worries.
That's what mobile computing is to me…. And as Forsest Gump would say, “That's all I have to about that.”

Being able to be a few taps away from all my friends. (Indispensable)
Being able to snap pictures of objects of interest (Great)
Having my full library of music in one place on the go (Awesome)
Having humanity's knowledge available in my pocket at all time (Incredible)
Mobile Computing, What I want, When I want in ONE device!

What does Mobile computing mean to me?
A generic term would be: one's ability to use technology while moving. In my opinion it means being able to look up directions and get to your destination, or phone a friend to find out where they are, or check your bank account to see if you have enough money to pay for gas. But ABOVE all you can do ALL this “at the tip of your finger.”
amir on 24 September 2009:
Mobile computing is not limited to one facet of life, I mean every facet of life can be improved/more fun with mobile computing, especially because mobile phones are always with us, wherever I am whatever I am doing my mobile is with me,whether I am working traveling or chilling out it is always accompanying me as any one else.
I check facebook to what my buddies are up to, use expenditure tracking app for work, pick the funny scene by my mob's camera, play games when on the train, and it reminds me of prayer times.
to sum up mobile computing is a helping tool in every facet of my life for business and pleasure.
gregg003 on 25 September 2009:
What is Mobile Computing to you?
Mobile Computing according to wikipedia is the ability to use technology while moving, as oppose to portable computers, which are only practical for use while deployed in a stationary configuration. Quite simple explanation to grasp on noting that what it signify is only computer technology on the move.
The question comes with personal perspective and it suggest the significance of Mobile Computing to everyone's lives..
..I would say, a lot actually, we could site basic aspects of computer use, like being able to do word processing on the go, do mathematical computations among others but with the dawn of cyber and internet era, I could say that mobile computing will be redefine in this very area of technology and innovation and will be correlated with every aspect of what it does, communicating, entertaining, sharing, relating, informing, learning in a worldwide scale, whatever, wherever he/she might be in the world.
With this, we could say that Mobile Computing means being informed with the latest news, events and happenings around the globe, knowing the weather at the very moment, updated with the rise and fall of stocks, mindful of the things that matters.
Mobile Computing would mean being able to communicate with friends, love ones or just about anybody wherever they are in the world, knowing their thoughts and opinions, sharing their
ideas, helping people decide, make a difference in other peoples lives, expressing oneself, making the most of what is regarded as the most powerful tool in the world, communication.
Mobile computing would mean being entertain, to be able to watch NBA finals via live stream or watch your favorite television programs and youTube channels anywhere you are and at your most comfortable position, to be able to know the current movies being played in theaters, to be able to download the Billboard Top 10 hits or play the most fab online games giving emphasis on one of the most important aspect in life, fun.
Mobile computing would mean unlimited knowledge upfront, to be able to answer the hardest question that your professor asked about or the simplest inquiry made by a young child about how life works, to be able to know your very existence and how it connive with evolution. As what they commonly say, Knowledge is Power!
Mobile computing would mean life of indifference, bridging different cultures and traditions in an instant, connecting and understanding people that could help prevent world destruction, save mother earth and promote World Peace as it address the very reason of misunderstanding…. Distance, Gap.
And the list could go on and on! c”,

It is quite simply the freedom to no longer be tethered to a piece of machinery that over time becomes your master. Instead, you have the ability to use the technology where you are, and when done properly integrates with your life as seamlessly as possible.

will it means to me to be not restricted to a specific place to do any task any more, I can be in the airport updating my blogs, in a coffe-shop preparing my presentation, being more productive in general in a much faster way than ever before. In other words freedom to do whatever I want whenever I want.

I am sorry to say, but mobile computing doesn't mean much to me because i don't have a chance to use it. But if i did use it, it would mean staying in touch with my friends and family when i am away from home. See them through the camera whenever i want. Ability to go online when im on the college, and not have to go to internet cafe. And most important to finally replace my 4 years old nokia 6030 who is slowly failing.
Sorry for my bad English, it's my third language

Mobile computing is freedom from wires while being in touch with all that matters to you.
Andrew on 27 September 2009:
Mobile computing, to me, is freedom. It is the ability to be in touch with the world, anywhere in the world. It is the ability to do multiple actions, without using multiple devices. It is for the busybody within all of us, not wanting to be limited to wires on this computer, or the size of that desktop. Mobile computing is the future, telling the world, “I will check my email while I am miles away from my room.” Mobile computing is everything I do with my laptop, iPod, TV and game console in one compact device expressing who I am.

I was born in the country of Ukraine, and lived in the czeck Republic for 7 years, but now I live in the United States and I constantly have to interact with my sister that helps take care of my parents, It is crucial that i send her information on supplements, hospitals, and interact with my paranets as I only get to see them once year, but I also like interacting with my buddies via facebook, myspace and twitter, and read company emails, send my wife ideas of where to eat out at. (the oppertunity to watch youtube videos like the nokia blog's series videos).Add all this plus the n97's mobile computing capabilities and you get a life & schedule that just becomes smoother and becomes part of you, and lets your life flow. Nokia N97 would truly part of me because I need a sleek, phone with a european style that does what I want it to do, unlike the iphone wich is too mainstream and overated. These mobile computing capabilities mean to me that i can combine work & play on such an outstanding device in order for life to flow.

To me mobile computing means I always have a good camera with me where ever I go. It means I will always capture all the good moments in my life when ever it happen unexpectedly. It means three weeks ago when my friends and I are having the best time of our lives at the beach on a full moon night and we said to each other “this is the night to be remembered” and we we're able to capture that moment. It's those special moment that make mobile computing worthwhile to me.

WHEN YOU CAN SHARE ENTERTAINMENT, INFORMATIONS, PICTURES AND VIDEOS WIHT PEOPLE ACROSS THE GLOBE OR THOSE CLOSE TO YOUR HEART…
WHEN REVIEWING DOCUMENTS IN A DIFFERENT ROOM OR CHECKING EMAILS IN A DIFFERENT TIME ZONE IS SUCH AN EFFICIENT AND CONVENIENT THING TO PERFORM…
WHEN ACCESS TO ENTERTAINMENT IS A SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE WHERE YOU CAN EASILY MANAGE AND PLAY ALL YOUR MEDIA AND PERFORM AT THEIR PEAK WHETHER YOUR PLAYING GAMES OR ENJOYING MUSIC…
WHEN YOU CAN NURTURE LOVE AND RELATIONSHIP, ROMANCE AND AFFECTIONS WHERE DISTANCE MAY HINDER…
WHEN YOU CAN HAVE THE WORLD AT THE TOUCH OF YOUR HAND, THAT'S WHAT MOBILE COMPUTING IS.

MOBILE COMPUTING IS A STUNNING AND FASCINATING TECHNOLOGY WHERE CONVENIENCE AND PORTABILITY PERFORMS AT ITS BEST. IT'S AN EXPERIENCE THAT IS REMARKABLE WHERE GETTING CONNECTED WITH PEOPLE WHO MATTERS IN OUR LIFE IS JUST A TOUCH AWAY. IT IS THE LUXURY AND EASE OF EXPLORING AND LEARNING ABOUT THE WORLD AND ITS IMPOSING AND EXTRAORDINARY HAPPENINGS. ITS THE IMPRESSIVE AND ASTOUNDING CHANCE TO BE WHAT OUR INNER WHIMS, THOUGHTS AND DESIRES WANTS US TO BE.
MOBILE COMPUTING IS THE LEADING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY THAT HAS AN EXCEPTIONAL AND SUBSTANTIAL IMPACT IN OUR LIVES, WHERE CONNECTING PEOPLE, ONLINE AS IT HAPPENS, LIES IN OUR FINGERS

Hello there!
I just decided to participate and share my feelings about mobile computing. To me it means quite a many things. A good mobile device can be my assistant, my friend, my news reporter, my entertainer and much more.
I've been living side by side with mobile computers for a while now and I've seen the many colorful sides of it.
Reminding me:
Telling me to go to a meeting or to donate blood. Telling me to buy a birthday gift for a friend. Telling me the upcoming occasions that I may have forgotten as time passes by.
Capturing and sharing the moments to remember:
Having the important moments of my life captured in photos and videos, organised and easy to find after many years, whenever I want to get back to those moments. Happy to see the good old days again with a friend who tragically died a few years ago or the first pictures of me with my girl. Posting my favorite pics and videos to Youtube and Facebook.
Getting me there while I'm elsewhere:
Seeing my brother's newborn son or my girlfriend that still lives in a different city via a video call. Sometimes a normal phone call just isn' enough.
Helping me run my errands:
Using my bank account to pay bills, reserving concert tickets, checking my mail and composing job applications.
Having my office with me:
Handling mail attachments and viewing/editing documents and sheets. And even writing this =)
Keeping in touch:
Calling, texting and sending mms to my friends and family. Staying online via messenger and facebook.
Maybe I should check out Twitter too, since it's become so popular…
Entertaining me:
Playing games, watching movies, listening to songs.
Helping me to be creative and to capture my inspirations:
Recording new song ideas. Even trying them on the go with multitracker software and sharing them with band members right away. Sketching art for various projects. Uploading my work to Evernote, so I can access it anywhere I need to.
Telling me what's going on in the world:
Reading news, blogs, comics and much more. Even PDF:s. Watching news videos on youtube and other services. Reading my favorite RSS-feeds. Checking train schedules and weather.
Guiding me to my destinations:
Using GPS to go where I want to. I'll never get lost again! Google maps' satellitw view is great for jogging paths which are not on the street view. I moved here a year ago and I almost got badly lost on those paths, but Google maps saved me =)
Communities:
I like to keep track of mobile computing communities. A bit geeky, but that's the reason I'm writing this. Also viewing and writing on music forums.
All those little things to make life easier:
Everything various stuff to help me, like converting units, using the device as a remote control for my TV or PC, using it as a flashlight, a bar code and contact card scanner. Oh, and of course using it as a mass storage device, I really don't need a USB memorystick…
There's still so much more things that I do with my devices but I just can't remember just now…
One thing that I have noticed is that if you treat your device right, it will pay off sooner or later. Big time!
There's so many things that I would have missed without my little helper =) Device's personalisation is also cool!
Mobile computing has become more important to me than my PC, I barely use 2 hours on my PC in a full week!
I bet that many people here feel the same.
Greetings from Finland!
-Jukka

What mobile computing means to me is the ability to manage my “digital persona” anywhere, and at any time. It is the ability to keep up with all of my professional and personal commitments without having to miss the magical moments that come from being a new father. It's the ability to post to the world my son's beautiful smile in between spreadsheets and project milestones…and also the ability to see him laugh any time, anywhere. Mobile computing lets me live my life the way I want to.

Mobile computing to me is…
Snapping pictures on the go,
Text messinging my girl…
While I lounge around my home
Sharing short videos of my kitty attacking flies,
Or streaming live
While gaming with the guys
Listening to to mp3s
Or helping me remember
to meet with appointees
Connectin with my clients
On the west coast.
Or Watching Black Adder episodes,
And streaming TED Videos.
Checking my email while away from home,
getting banking alerts while on the go.
Mobile computing is my everything…
Just on the go.
What it is to you we will never know…
Unless you too make a video, write a blog,
or share a poem.
Just if you submit it after now… you won't get the chance to win the cool Nokia N97 phone… (I hope I take it home)
P.S. I am probably going to make a video about this
