Just curious……all you guys that have used the N900 on T-Mobile's 3G network…….what data plan did you guys use. Just the regular data plan that you would normally use for all the smartphones such as the HTC Touch Pro 2 or similar? Just curious that's all. I just ordered the Nexus One, and added the data plan, but now I really want the N900 since it will work on T-Mobile's 3G. But now that I have already got the Nexus One, I will most likely have to add a line to my T-Mobile account so that I can use the N900, since the data plans are incompatible. This is so awesome!!!! Hello iPhone killer!!!!!!! LOL!!!

AT&T uses EDGE and a proprietary 3G when it comes to the N900. You have to go with a true GSM provider like T-Mobile to get a standard version of HSDPA in the US. Plus AT&T's 3G is terrible due to all the iPhone traffic that overwhelms thier network.

Roger, to say that there is a cap on the data use per day “as in Europe” is a huge generalization. Which country in Europe, and which operator and data plan are you referring to? There are lots of plans available in European countries that I know of that don't have such caps.

Using the WiFi supplied by Verizon FIOS, my pre-release N900 got download speeds of 3.38 Mb/s and 4.42 Mb/s for upload.

This is 802.11g, of course. A laptop in the house tested out at 19 Mb/s download and 5.5 Mb/s upload using 802.11n.

if and when I get a SIM to use T-Mobile's data network, I'll post my speeds using it.

Can you tell us more about the SIM card? Is it voice and data or only data? What price are you paying when you use the internet? Is there a cap on the data use per day as in Europe (1 euro per MB up to 2.5 euros per day, then no additional charge)?

I so want an N900 but am afraid I'll get screwed like I did with my N95. I was in NYC the day it was released to get it, and it did EDGE only in the U.S. — a few months later an updated model was released that did 3G on AT&T.

I have both AT&T and T-mobile and am hoping to ditch/port my T-mobile number to AT&T since I have a family plan account there and adding a third line won't be as expensive.

Yo might want to change this part of your write-up:
“T-mobile is the only provider in the US able to provide 3G data”
to something like:
“T-mobile is the only provider in the US able to provide 3G data FOR THIS PHONE BECAUSE OF THE BANDS IT USES”
