Nokia N900 Firmware Updated to 2.2009.51-1 – Changelog Included

The Nokia N900 received a minor update on Monday to prepare for the major update released just now. The Maemo team is calling the update Maemo 5 PR1.1, but the version number is 2.2009.51-1. Nokia has provided the official changelog and wow it is long!

I was planning on just copying and paste the changelog here, but you’ll be overwhelmed. Read the Maemo 5 PR1.1 changelog.

The update is available through the application manager on the Nokia N900, so go check if it’s available for you. I’ll report back my thoughts after spending some time with the new firmware.

    Me and my friends are unable to update to above mentioned firmware because our N900 and PC Suite isn't showing any alert for update!

    ..and My new N900 is bricked.
    Happened first time after a lot upgrades on Nokias.
    What to do now?

    When I try the OTA upgrade, it asks me to use PC suite… (o_O)
    And I am connected through the WiFi.
    I cannot upgrade, for now :/

    SUccessfully upgraded although it took ages to clean up the apps to make space for it. So far, FASTER, but other than that, no visible change.

    You need to contact Nokia for repair, this happened to me on my 5800 too. I suggest you use a different PC next time you attempt an upgrade.

    acabo de intentar instalar la nueva version 2.2009.51-1 mediante Nokia Software Updater el cual me he descargado de la web de nokia.

    empezo todo bien, pero cuando quedaba 1 segundo para la instalacion, me salio un error de Nokia Software Updater y se cerro, incluso me salio el mensaje que tenia que reiniciar el pc.

    al hacerlo y volver a intenterlo , no puedo. ahora no me detecta el movil.
    no se enciende. cuando le doy al boton de encender me sale el logo de nokia y luego se apaga.

    vuelvo a intentar a actualizar con Nokia Software Updater y me sale un cartel diciendo que conecte el movil directamente al pc, el cual, lo tenia directamente conectado al pc. dice que no lo conecte mediente un hub usb, yo no lo tengo asi.

    el caso es, que se ha jodido el movil . ya no enciende.

    supongo que ha desinstalado el sistema operativo y al ir a instalar la nueva version ha sido cuando ha dado el error de Nokia Software Updater

    I try again to update with Nokia Software Updater and I get a sign saying that the phone connects directly to the pc, which, had it directly connected to pc. says mediente not connect a USB hub, so I do not have it.

    the case is that the phone has been screwed. It will not start.

    I guess you uninstalled the operating system and going to install the new version is when the error has the Nokia Software Updater

    Completed the 51 update and waiting for Exchange 2003 to fully sync. Thanks Maemo team. OTA OS upgrade is wonderful!

    i did not have any problem updating via air but after downloading,installing and updating first i noticed, my FB app was not working properly, second, my contacts are all gone and now i can't even open my contacts anymore! so my advice to all n900 owners, DO NOT UPDATE!!!

    can anyone help me on my n900?… after updating all my contacts are all gone and the device won't even let me enter new contacts, everytime if i try adding contacts, it always give me an internal error, i tried using HERMES APP to get all my facebook contacts but still giving me an internal error! PLEASE HELP!!!…

    can you please explain what you mean by cleaning up apps to make space?? I tried downloading the new Maemo 5 version but I get an error message saying memory full !!!! Which apps did you have to clean up ?

    It's great that Nokia actually improved N900 firmware and fixed tons of bugs reported by user. The best news is the hidden portrait mode browser. However, i'm curious whether Nokia implement full portrait mode in N900. Too bad I'm a Malaysian who still waiting N900 too come.

    already fixed all the problems i had with my update via air, i had to re install the update via pc and now everything is fixed! it runs smoother than before!… can't wait for more APPS from OVI…

    while downloding the update, there is a note at the bottom that it says DO NOT DISCONNECT the phone while updating, did you disconnect the USB from the phone while updating? I had this problem from my old NOKIA phone, so i had to send my phone to nokia center to get it fix. so i suggest to do desame thing!…

    if you're using windows 7 it won't work, i tried that bunch of times but somehow software updater don't work on windows 7, i tried using my laptop which is windows vista and did not have any problem.

    what the h*** is wrong with MAEMO OS, after updating for the second time, everything was fine, now my APPS MANAGER is not doing its thing, it says some catalog is failed to refreshed! i tried turning off and removed the battery couple times but it still doing desame thing! WTH!!!

    Reset your device by going to settings and tapping the top of the screen where the word settings is displayed. This worked wonders for me

    I use the touch screen keyboard a lot for texting as I find it easier. However, since the upgrade, I cannot find the delete button (backspace)! so if i type an error i cannot delete it!
