Video: Nokia N900 Controls Real Helicopter

I’m almost 100% sure this video is fake, but I know the Nokia N900 can do a lot of crazy things when it is hacked. Here’s a video of a guy controlling a real helicopter using the Nokia N900’s accelerometer. Check it out.

Real or fake?

  • Okay, so this video is obviously fake. But I've seen it done with a toy helicopter. That's gotta count for something, right? :o)

i love my n900 but i'm gettin the HTC HD2 this wednesday, i had the nexus one to replace my n900 but it did not happen because i didnt really like the nexus one, what you guys think about the HTC HD2???
  • Definitely a fake. The response time between the man's hands and the helicopter is very slow. That should have crashed the helicopter already.

    it is fake!

Well, they could have inverted the control system though! Looks pretty authentic to me.

The man controlling it tilts the phone as if he's using the accelerometer to control direction, but when he tilts it left the helicopter floats to the right side. It is a fake!

    Real or fake?
    Double facepalm.

Fake - you can see at 00:24 that he's lifting the phone up to "lift" the helicopter up - the n900 doesn't know how far off the ground it is (unless you use the accelerometer, but that has to be fast).
