Video: Nokia N900 Controls Real Helicopter

I’m almost 100% sure this video is fake, but I know the Nokia N900 can do a lot of crazy things when it is hacked. Here’s a video of a guy controlling a real helicopter using the Nokia N900′s accelerometer. Check it out.

Real or fake?

    Fake

Fake – you can see at 00:24 that he's lifting the phone up to “lift” the helicopter up – the n900 doesn't know how far off the ground it is (unless you use the accelerometer, but that has to be fast).

    Real or fake?
    Double facepalm.

The man controlling it tilts the phone as if he's using the accelerometer to control direction, but when he tilts it left the helicopter floats to the right side. It is a fake!

  • John

Well, they could have inverted the control system though! Looks pretty authentic to me.

Definitely a fake. The response time between the man's hands and the helicopter is very slow. That should have crashed the helicopter already.

Okay, so this video is obviously fake. But I've seen it done with a toy helicopter. That's gotta count for something, right? :o )

Wow, the Ericsson’s bluetooth car, what have you remembered?! Fantastic indeed it was. I wish mobile phone manufacturers had more of these small and interesting accessories that take advantage of a phone’s connectivity options.

Nokia has a real game changer with the N900, is there anything this phone can’t do? Let’s hope its MeeGo successor will live up to the expectations.

Now all I need is to get myself one of those full sized helicopters…

Tesco said they have two in stock.

Seriously though…N900, RC stuff. Nokia and remote controlled helicopters = WIN.Awesome ^_^

I want a bluetooth car like Sony Ericsson’s old accessory.
