Proof of Concept: Nokia N900 Controls RC Helicopter
While having breakfast with Iain at our hotel during SXSW (we both won that Nokia video competition), he mentioned that he was working on a Nokia N900 hack that will let him control an RC helicopter. I was hungover from the night before so my mind couldn’t understand him at the time. Nevertheless, Iaian just posted a video with his proof of concept that it will work.
Leaked Photos of Upcoming Nokia With 4in Touchscreen, 12MP Camera, Xenon Flash, HDMI Out
IT168 just published some photos of an upcoming Nokia device with a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen, 12 megapixel camera, xenon flash, HDMI output, and probably more yet uncovered. The exact name is not known, but some blogs are already calling it the N8-00, while the source is calling it the N98.
Amethyst Nokia E72 Now Available in Select Nokia Online Shops
The Nokia E72 in Amethyst color has started appearing in select Nokia online shops. A quick inquiry showed Finland and Italy having them in stock, but not the UK. Check your local shops if you’re interested in this color. I love purple and think it looks great. I don’t know why a few blogs assume this phone is targeted for women though.
Nokia N900 PR1.2 SDK Shows What’s to Come in the Next Major Update
Maemo released the latest SDK for developers on Monday and MohammadAG from the forums uploaded some screenshots that gives us an idea of what’s to come in the next major update for the Nokia N900. We’re not sure when the update will be available to everyone, but at least we know some of the things to look forward to.

Sygic Mobile Maps Now Available on Nokia N900 for Europe & USA
Initially launched for Europe a few days ago, I noticed Sygic Mobile Maps for the Nokia N900 now support the US as well. It is the first turn-by-turn voice guided navigation application on Maemo. I’m a little surprised that Sygic was able to deliver their app before Nokia implemented voice navigation to their built-in Ovi Maps.

I’m almost 100% sure this video is fake, but I know the Nokia N900 can do a lot of crazy things when it is hacked. Here’s a video of a guy controlling a real helicopter using the Nokia N900′s accelerometer. Check it out.
Foursquare App for Nokia N900 – BarrioSquare Now Available in App Manager
BarrioSquare, a FourSquare application for the Nokia N900, left private testing on Monday and is now available at the N900′s App Manager. You may have to enable the Extras-Devel repository. This is great news because now more Nokia N900 users can start using this app. Watch my quick overview of the app.
SXSWi With Nokia – Photos Recap from Nokia N97 mini
SXSW Interactive just finished and I’m at the airport waiting for my flight back to New York City. The festival was a lot of fun and describing it in text wouldn’t be enough. I had the Nokia N97 mini with me taking photos and sharing immediately to friends in Facebook & Twitter.
