that's an interesting preview. if its truly a disappointment then that was probably why Nokia delayed the launch til Q3 and why developers weren't impressed. Nokia is the mobile king, i believe symbian^3 will be great and impress alot of Nokia users as well as others. we just have to wait and see.

Symbian^2 and Symbian^3 were always meant to be S60 5th Edition Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2, respectively. The reason why S^3 doesn't depart much from S^1 is because it is not supposed to.

I am more discouraged by OPK…who, with his monotone delivery, would likely have little success selling a fully charged fire hose to a person trapped in a burning house. Clearly, there is something fundamentally wrong with the leadership at Nokia…and their collective ability to 1) provide a clear vision , 2) manage communications, 3) manage expectations, and 4) create buzz and energy around Nokia devices/services. Watch the Nokia product managers video interview with their new C6…wow…sleeper! I was also perplexed by this borderline espionage/leaked review as I was of the opinion the S^3 would provide multiple home screens, better transitions, and copious amounts of programmable widgets. Nothing groundbreaking but at least comparable to say…Android 1.6. If this so-called leaked unit was not representative of the final product, OPK should be out front and center clearing the air and not on the sidelines watching the NOK stock price drop another 2% on these rumors. In addition, something stinks in Nokia Russia if they can't control confidential information…maybe they need a corporate “purge” over there as well.

I see one big good sign from Nokia here. Here is good hardware. With with software that seems to be at least functioning NOW. Yet Nokia don't want to release this until Q3. This seems like a VERY good sign from Nokia. It shows that they want to launch it with far fewer bugs than the N97 and X6.

This should at least improve the perception of Nokia. I.E. Sites like Engadget would only ever have done one review of the n97. This would have been in its terribly buggy first software. Now, when they get the N8 they wont be incredibly disappointed (but just slightly).

eldars personal demise with nokia seems to have stemmed alot of negative projections in his reviews of nokia devices of late. i for one am impressed with the s^3 device. but again im a devoted nokia fan. (as well as symbian) so ill try this device as it hits the marks that i wanted: xenon and LED (is it single or dual LED?)
