. SPEAKERS
(a) speakers are not that powerful.
(b) only 1 speaker that too at the back of the phone…really bad. cant hear phone ring if phone is kept on soft surface which absorbs sound..or in phone cover.
2. MUSIC
(a) cant edit music info in song details.
(b) cant search songs.
(c) there is no separate album or artist view, rather artist & album are merged.
3. WIFI
(a) once u have defined an access point it automatically connects over & over

I got the new nokia n8 on 14 oct….love the phone. I am a former n95 8gb user so i was hoping everything better than my previous phone.
But there are a few things which cant be ignored—>
1. SPEAKERS

(c) there is no separate album or artist view, rather artist & album are merged.
3. WIFI
(a) once u have defined an access point it automatically connects over & over again…believe me i have tried everything from switching widgets to offline mode, “always ask” mode, manual selection mode.
it really consumes battery..so have to delete the defined access point everytime.

If anyone can help with these, you’re most welcome.
some of these problems can be solved by nokia by software upgrade…but speaker sucks.
I am a long time Nokia user, but, this was probably my last nokia phone…believe me nokia can’t get better than this.
Well, as they say, nokia is a sinking ship. Apple is the Future.

I believe that N8 will start an new era of mobile phones (ex. 12mp, HDMI, hardware). Especially at Nokia and I really hope that the functionality would be as good as it seems to be now.

Looks really fancy. All these new phones are getting so hard to use. I Have been using Net10 prepaid for a while and have a winning combination in that the phones are easy to use and the prices are fantastic at 10cents a minute. I save a lot with 300 minutes for $30 and 60 days. With the biggest benefit being that I can use the phone comfortably.

eldars personal demise with nokia seems to have stemmed alot of negative projections in his reviews of nokia devices of late. i for one am impressed with the s^3 device. but again im a devoted nokia fan. (as well as symbian) so ill try this device as it hits the marks that i wanted: xenon and LED (is it single or dual LED?)

I see one big good sign from Nokia here. Here is good hardware. With with software that seems to be at least functioning NOW. Yet Nokia don't want to release this until Q3. This seems like a VERY good sign from Nokia. It shows that they want to launch it with far fewer bugs than the N97 and X6.

This should at least improve the perception of Nokia. I.E. Sites like Engadget would only ever have done one review of the n97. This would have been in its terribly buggy first software. Now, when they get the N8 they wont be incredibly disappointed (but just slightly).

I am more discouraged by OPK…who, with his monotone delivery, would likely have little success selling a fully charged fire hose to a person trapped in a burning house. Clearly, there is something fundamentally wrong with the leadership at Nokia…and their collective ability to 1) provide a clear vision , 2) manage communications, 3) manage expectations, and 4) create buzz and energy around Nokia devices/services. Watch the Nokia product managers video interview with their new C6…wow…sleeper! I was also perplexed by this borderline espionage/leaked review as I was of the opinion the S^3 would provide multiple home screens, better transitions, and copious amounts of programmable widgets. Nothing groundbreaking but at least comparable to say…Android 1.6. If this so-called leaked unit was not representative of the final product, OPK should be out front and center clearing the air and not on the sidelines watching the NOK stock price drop another 2% on these rumors. In addition, something stinks in Nokia Russia if they can't control confidential information…maybe they need a corporate “purge” over there as well.

that's an interesting preview. if its truly a disappointment then that was probably why Nokia delayed the launch til Q3 and why developers weren't impressed. Nokia is the mobile king, i believe symbian^3 will be great and impress alot of Nokia users as well as others. we just have to wait and see.

Is Eldar smarter thant the Nokia as a company???

The only problem on the preview is that Eldar delivered a half-filled preview then he added full of rants on Nokia. He made N8 as the gate to his personal woes over Nokia's current situation.

Yes, we should respect him, but based on the preview Symbian^3 looks like a Symbian^1.5. Plus almost important specs were missing. He never mentioned on the exact screen size, he just said "coincide with X6". We didn't even get the HD vid sample. Overall that preview was full of PROTO-things.

Better wait for the official Nokia announcement for the specs.

I already thought that the N97 (mini) would have been a lot better simply with more ram and a better cpu (like Samsungs i8910). If Nokia got these two right this time (+ the C drive), the N8 should do well. There are still many symbian fans out there waiting for a new good device. If the software is powered by the right hardware (no lagging, smooth transitions, etc.) I'm buying this. Gravity, Mobbler, Maps and JBakTaskman are reasons for me to stick to symbian.
