Nokia N8 Now Official. Expected Late Summer 2010 for EUR 370
Nokia has made the Nokia N8 official. We no longer need to rely on the leaked photos or rumored spec sheet to find out more info about the upcoming device. Available in select markets late summer of 2010, the estimated retail price of the Nokia N8 is EUR 370.

The official announcement confirms what we’ve been speculating. It introduces a 12 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash. We were wrong about LED flash next to the Xenon. It’s just amber LED used for focus assist.
Additionally, the Nokia N8 offers the ability to make HD-quality videos and edit them with a built-in editing suite. Doubling as a portable entertainment center, people can enjoy HD-quality video with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound by plugging into their home theatre system.
Powering the Nokia N8 is Symbian ^3, which introduces several major advances, including support for multi touch on the device’s 3.5in capacitive touchscreen. The Nokia N8 also offers multiple, personalizable homescreens which can be loaded with apps and widgets. The new 2D and 3D graphics architecture in the platform takes full advantage of the Nokia N8′s hardware acceleration to deliver a faster and more responsive user interface.
Symbian^3 also promises to deliver greater memory management allowing more applications to run in parallel for a faster multi-tasking experience.
A specification that surprised me is the Nokia N8′s support for WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100. If I understand correctly, that means 3G internet for anyone with a SIM card! For example, both AT&T and T-mobile users in the United States will be able to use 3G! I don’t think there are any devices out right now with this feature.
