Joikuspot for Nokia N900 Now Available at Ovi Store

Joikuspot, an app that lets you turn your device into a wifi hotspot is now available at the Ovi Store for the Nokia N900. The Maemo version came out of beta last March and has been ready for purchase and download at Joiku’s own site. Its presence in the Ovi Store now makes it even easier for users to download this great app.

Joikuspot for the Nokia N900 costs $9.99 and is definitely worth it. The only question I have is, “why did it take 3 months to show up at the Ovi Store?”

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but “Mobile Hotspot” has been in the repositories for aaaaages, works great, and is of course, free.

Too bad Joikuspot on the n900 is a flakey, slow, p.o.c. not worth even $2.. Mobile Hotspot on the other hand works very well and is even free. And for the nerds out there, dnsmasq is installed per default and does everything these 2 apps do and more. Frankly I don't see why anyone in their right mind would pay for Joikuspot.

Thanks for the tip. I havent heard of Mobile Hotspot until you mentioned it. Will install and give it a try!

I paid for this, reflashed and lost it. They need to find a better way to distribute this.

The only question I have is “why is it so hard to do this with free software” (the answer to which is “because Nokia's kernel doesn't include the necessary modules but it does have a bunch of proprietary crap which makes working with it needlessly difficult”).
