I was at Digital Experience in New York City last night to check out the latest products in consumer technology from various brands. I was glad to see Nokia in attendance, showing off the Nokia Nuron, Nokia E73, and a pre-production Nokia N8 (it was labeled C0).
I’ve held the Nokia N8 before during a media preview, and you can read my first impressions. Last night, Nokia was mainly showing its HD video-out capability to the press using the HDMI connector. I was eventually able to disconnect it from the TV and play with other features. The software was still unfinished, but it felt more responsive than the last time I played with it. The camera was working great. I was able to take some photos along with the xenon flash and captured some videos too. I’ve bumped into some errors along the way, so it makes sense for me to wait for the final firmware to write a more accurate opinion on the performance.
Understandably the Nokia booth requested not to take videos of the pre-release Nokia N8. If you’re interested in some stuff from other brands that I saw last night, I’ll be uploading a bunch of videos to my secondary Youtube channel. Please subscribe!
