I think Symbian is a very good OS, the problem is ignorance and hardware.

Ignorance because with time I can prove that many so called journalist in the tech industry claim is old, without even having use it, and hardware because the major proponent of symbian (nokia) has release weak hardware with the OS, making the OS look old and slow. N8 should help this, and Sony Ericsson that has better hardware released the Satio and Vivaz with a lot of bugs in the propietary shell, right now those phones are amazing and showing great for symbian, but Sony Ericsson does not have the power of Nokia in distribution.

I think Nokia has definitely lost their war in the global smartphone market. Their past success had definitely made them too comfortable to strive for any innovation. I originally think the fierce competition from iphone will make force their engineers to create sleek and awesome device. I am deeply disappointed as soon as I started using my N97, and the only reason I'm still using it is because of money. I hate my N97 and I despise Nokia for making such a disappointing device. After read news on the N8, I can confidently say that Nokia is completely incapable of learning from their mistakes, and they are determined to continued their way of business. I'm sure the Nokia name will soon disappear in the smartphone market.

Android is NOT free as in no strings attached! Googles tentacles are all over your data with it. We need an alternative! Hope MeeGo delivers!

Besides Java sucks

Symbian is dead! Is the worse system. Use Android instead. MeeGo? Maybe. But I bet on Android. It`s free, easy and with a good API that pleasures theirs developers! If Nokia don`t open her mind, HTC will become the next number one. Sorry.

This is reassuring but ,what about what most important thing, the D world, he mentioned Developers only once, buried in in his closing arguments (that is your biggest weakness from the perspective of one who lives in the western hemisphere) No mention of an improved SDK. when will they get it, specs don't sell phones anymore. Unless low cost is your niche, I expect them to thrive in emerging markets with coolest feature phones the world has ever seen. Nobody hates the US mobile industry more than myself, with their over-controlling ways, but if you want to succeed you have play ball with them. I know E71x & E73 are a start but why end there?

I like how N8 sounds in paper, but I also liked N97, I now own an N97, I like it, but the browser crashes way to often and the memory (RAM) affects me to even watch just photos, also the C: memory is very little to be workable.

The MeeGo will be a phone too, is just that they refer to Maemo and MeeGo as full computers, not just smartphones, because those are Linux, and in fact you can install OpenOffice (with some expertise) and other Linux software.

So don't despair, I actually like the look of the UI of MeeGo in a netbook.
