OK Maciek my bad...They haven't fix the problem, but put a bandaid on it. Sadly they should be using the time blaming others to fix or redesign the antenna.

My iPhone 3GS has a better reception at home than any other mobile I have tried, nokia or else. Neighbors, there are 80 of them, are surprised that I consider skipping my landline as they have useless reception with their mobiles.

The decision of Apple to initially not include multitasking in their os, was not so bad, though I like having it as in their new os. No doubt, multitasking drains the battery life time. With the new os I had to learn to watch out for unnecessary background tasks. As apple wanted to broaden the audience for smart phones, it was understandable decision to initially skip multitasking.

I love Nokia very much, though my work concerns mostly dealing with Apple production. I have never seen any stickers on Nokia phones, but maybe they are now selling phones with stickers and I just didn't pay attention. And what concerns antenna design -- I think Nokia's approach is much more right and logical.
Regards,
Laureen, from ipad development

Though I'm an Apple fan. I had some Nokia devices before and there wasn't any reception problems with them. I guess Apple would better fix the existing problem then switch consumers' attention to some of their rivals.

Why can you download Nokia manuals from their server with the description not to hold the phone at some areas because of strong antenna signal influence?

Nokia "do not touch" label is here. I have seen them in many of my Nokia packages, but not as a sticker actually on the phone. Usually this label is on a separate insert or in the user manual for the Nokia device.

http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/2458/do-not-touc...)

SJ has invented a nice story to hide the IP4 failure... no such sticker has been on my Nokias, but I remember having a (big) Motorola in 1992 with such a sticker close to the antenna I had to pull before calling. But Motorola is an American company...
A mobile phone is NOT a toy, having an Iphone for 2 days I just had the feeling that it was a toy for adults but nothing else, I have no time to loose when at work, I 've choose Nokia because it's serious and it's working even after falling on the floor.

I bought an E71 a few years ago. While it didn't have stickers on the antennas saying "Don't touch here", it's manual did have something similar. It showed a picture of the phone with grayed areas pointing out antennas and pictures of the correct and incorrect way of holding the phone so that one wouldn't be touching those areas. It also said in the text, don't touch the antennas or bad reception may ensue.

It seems to me, that the other phone companies can't exactly prove that they have a smart phone that could be held in a death grip without any signal loss. Thus I'm a bit annoyed at all this. Nokia's answer for example points out that they do a great deal of antenna research and their phones work well in real world situations. Well great, this doesn't exactly make Apple's argument invalid. In my opinion, it would have been better to just shut up. This whole thing with iPhone antenna is simply a media frenzy over nothing. I've seen a new HTC Desire do the exact same thing when held in a death grip. I doubt any other smart phone will totally avoid the problem.

i am tired of you guys complaining about symbian, listen i owned most of the smartphones that exist, the first three iphone generations, wm phones, palm phones, recently got android phone and most of my phones are symbian, whats wrong with symbian, see android u cant install software on the memory card only main phone memory cmon for god sake how primitive that is, i decided to just sell that phone at 50 percent loss, i know symbian is alittle boring as far as eye candy factor goes but more functional that android and ios is the most boring ui i ever seen so so boring, enough with bashing nokia phones they good and their os is proven and works fine unlike stupid android and ios (by the way the android i bought was 5 months in the market advertised as upgradable to 2.1 but stuck with 1.5 upgradable only to 1.6 and once u didnt use ota upgrade you out of luck) in brief word, nokia phones are not as bad as some people think they are, they reliable with excellent build quality and they have excellent signal

You know this is why I hate Steve Jobs and always will. I dont really hate Apple though. He is self centered and tries to be this all powerful messiah which he is not. He has the gall to deflect the problem they are having to other companies which have nothing to do with this. I did not hear these companies saying anything about Apple so why bring them into this in the first place. I have never seen this sticker either. I am glad this is happening to them, serves him right!!

He does need to go back to the drawing board! What a joke a free case is. I have always owned Nokias and Motorolas but not smart phones. No phone is perfect so from time to time I have had calls drop but that is also the network provider. Have you noticed in many of these pictures and videos of drop signal ATT shows up a alot?

What a mistake by using ATT as the only network for this phone. ATT wireless is a joke, Verizon, T-Mobile even Sprint are better. I would purchase an iPod Touch but never an iPhone. My first smart phone will either be Google Android powered or MS Phone 7. Symbian is very stable and just works.

When you have a product that is solid why turn away. This is why I almost always use Nokias first before anything else. It just works!

Victor

Fix the problem????? HOW? By offering a rubber band or a case? How about heading back to the drawing table and redesigning the antenna (for example cover it in some kind of epoxy shit that matches the look but prevents the electrical conduction).

Mr. Jobs is a self centered dickhead. I think Nokia should launch a contest called "Find Do Not Touch here" phone. If anyone will find a legitimate phone with such a sticker, Nokia should reward them with a new iPhone 4 with the words "DO NOT TOUCH" plastered ALL OVER it and on the back of the phone there should be an inscription saying "Door stop courtesy of Nokia"

"for example by having antennas both at the top and bottom of the phone"

Nokia must know that the FCC now requires the antenna be placed as far from the brain as possible (the bottom of the phone)... I'd be surprised if the much more progresive Swedish government doesn't have the same regulations.
