Video Walkthrough of the Nokia N8 from Poland

GSM Online from Poland just published a video walkthrough of the Nokia N8 covering probably everything except the web browser and camera. You should watch it because the last segment shows Nokia Messaging breezing through emails. It’s great to preview these Nokia N8 videos as we get closer to the release date. It seems to get more responsive in each new video that pops up.

Video is embedded below. Please click here if it’s not visible in your RSS reader.

update: GSM Online deleted the video and re-uploaded it without the Nokia Messaging segments. Here’s the new one:

GSM Online says the hardware they played with is the final retail version, but the software isn’t. They also say it acted pretty quick, but you can see that for yourself in the video.

Do you see yourself with a Nokia N8 in the future?

  1. Obviously! i will get a Nokia N8 for shure! :D

  2. wish they'd release it already! :p

  3. Would be nice to see web browser running and also show free memory with say twitter, browser and internet radio app running. Hardware looks good but that UI is so old if an existing customer. Icons could do with make over, have the old icons as different theme if need be. Its going to be reliable I guess. Hope can upgrade to next version of symbian. Still more questions than answers with this phone. Whoever has this phone show the browser running at least. Nokia have so much good stuff with maps, music and above all its good name but it has lost some ground with n97 and has to push this to stay at the top especially since its seems like the release date is still a few weeks away.

  4. Yeah seems like they're hiding the browser :P there is a clip on youtube from a few months back. I read somewhere that it's not complete yet? something like that…

upgradability to S^4 would be awesome too…

  5. Over the last year it seemed like a new device was coming out every month with no wait time. Last few months nothing except the wait for n8. (its been going on since early April) Heaps of reviews of the camera and just the basics of the phone and what the outside looks like. (at least the charger plug is not in stupid place up top) The camera does look good but how come that is ready to go and all these excuses about tweeking the software and that the final version will be faster. A cynic would say the example pics are from a high spec camera, the 5800 example pics looked awesome too and thats a hit and miss camera regarding quality. I know its only 3.2mp but that was pushed as been able to take good pics. I have never reproduced the example pics quality and I have given it to a photographer to play with it. I am going to wait a week or two once released to see what hardcore users say.

  6. Been a Nokia owner since past 9 years including 2 Symbian^1(S60v5) phones… but I'm fed up of the same old Nokia UI and the buggy memory issues and the frequent need to hard reset… Am going the Android way with my next phone.

  7. Email app error when trying to display pictures, pictures never displayed, I want this phone, but one more time in a Nokia device the email is not looking good.

  8. I see a lot of exposure of Nokia N8 these days on the net, and possibly Nokia's marketing team is behind it too. Unfortunately the N8, at least how I see it, is just a “regular” mobile phone. It's not a bad thing, but it just seems to be Nokia's main focus at the moment. And it reflects on these consumer survey, no matter which continent they do it on. Nokia has became this “regular” company that manufactures “regular” mobile phones.

It's unfortunate to see how much effort Nokia is putting into marketing N8. Anyone with seasoned exposure to technology these days would know what N8 has to offer are just plain average. Take video feature for example, sure it plays it, but that's what Nokia said 2 years ago with N95 or N96, and 2 years later they are still saying their phone plays video. And it's without any content provider. I don't know what they expect consumer to do. Power user (those who converts their own video or know what they want to do with their phone) has already moved on to Android or iOS, the regular consumer who doesn't have the skill to do would rely on content store, which Nokia doesn't have.

What they need to do now is to reconstruct their brand recognition strategy, and by that I don't mean doing those surface level marketing on the blogsphere or social network, but to let the consumer know what Nokia is all about. Be it a technology company or a content provider.

In my opinion Palm had almost a year of hiatus to develop their Web OS, it failed eventually but that's because they didn't have enough resource to continue (which i believe Nokia has) marketing it, or develop it. Microsoft too, took a break after Windows 6.5, and is coming back with windows phone 7, and it looks promising. As bad as it may be for a company to take a year off, but I think that's what Nokia should do now to reconstructing company's focus, instead of spending time, energy and money on those marketing. Because it's really shallow.

  9. First of all Nokia needs to make Meego compatible with the N900. Excellent device but immediatly abandoned by Nokia. This company needs to work on there customer service and customer loyalty issues. Im more than sure Nokia's going to come out with some advanced phones in the future. Fact is they need an OS to compete with Andriod and iOS. If they can put everything together Nokia has the resources to come out of its slump. Stick with Meego and give Symbian at the least a face lift.

  10. most ugly looking phone with slowest OS in the world.
    awefull.
    :-( ((

  11. most ugly looking phone with slowest OS in the world?
You must be watching a different video. That seems pretty quick to me and is a very nice looking phone.

  12. Nothing impressive at all, slow, laggy and not pretty. All other companies are trying new things while Nokia still struggles to create a nice looking and a smooth UI.

Symbian is very powerful feature wise but other companies are quickly maturing and adding that functionality while also having great, smooth UIs.

  13. Isn't it ridiculous that I actually live in Poland and you're my source of this news? Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

  14. I think they get told they're forbidden to show the browser when Nokia give them a phone to test (seriously, it's not even “i think” its just the truth)

Unfortunate.. I'm getting a Droid, been long enough N8, you're out!

  15. Wouldn't it be awesome if the blades of grass in that background moved? as if they were blowing in the wind??

Like the Dynamic Themes for the Playstation 3 (where the backgrounds would be animated)

  16. Time to market is important, I don't know what issue let Nokia waiting.

  17. The N8 might look impressive, but if its going to take Nokia until October to Release this mobile it will be Out dated,as the N9 is on its way,an more Up-to-date mobiles will be released from the Others,Nokia is realy touch nowdays an want a Big turn around at this Company,Everything to Slow at Nokia nowdays but years before way ahead of the rest,Nokia must have known about the iPhone4 release date, but instead of releasing the N8 to compete with the New iPhone4 we get the N8 ,3-4 months later an does that show that Nokia is willing to Compete,no it does not,but it seems so odd at a Company who used to Lead the Mobile Market, but Apple an Android Showing Nokia you better sort yourself out or you will be defeated

  18. I just hope they don't make it load images by default ala iphone… it presents a bit of a security risk doing that, not to mention confirming to spammers that your email address is active ( for the non-obvious spam that slides through the filters ).

  19. Not pretty? Put a theme in it. You can make it look anyway you want. That way you can have your flowers and Hello Kitty stuff. And if you don't have the smarts to download and change a theme, you really shouldn't be using any devices with a processor in them. You probably shouldn't be living by yourself, without a parent or nurse.

And slow & laggy? What are you, some sort of mayfly with a lifespan of 30 minutes? Things have to happen in a fraction of a nanosecond for you so that you can do everything before your 30-minute life ends? You must have insanely fast reactions and very short attention span.
