Spotted: Ad for Nokia X6 and 5230 Running Android

Who’s getting fired for this? A poster showing the Nokia X6 and Nokia 5230 running Android was spotted on Oxford Street in London. The ad was for Three Mobile. It’s definitely a marketing error because Nokia recently said there were no plans to use Android with their devices. I hope you didn’t get your hopes up.

The ad was spotted by Maurico Reyes, who uploaded it on his Posterous account. While I wouldn’t mind playing with a Nokia device running Android, the head of Mobile Solutions for Nokia, Anssi Vanjoki, already confirmed, “despite rumors to the contrary, there are no plans to introduce an Android device from Nokia.”

  1. Yet more proof that Three UK are incompetent.

  2. Three UK are perfectly fine. Don't blame the whole company for an idiot sign-maker.

  3. This is Spotify surely which runs on Symbian as well as Android?

  4. If it were really running android on a weaker processor than the 528mhz….. how is that going to work? I'm just wondering.

  5. the status bars on top = android

  6. crazy…!

  7. shame, I would really like a nokia android phone

  8. Android and Nokia seems to be compatible tho. :)

  9. I have created a facebook page “Android on Nokia” to get an idea of how many people are thinking along the same lines. Why not go there and tag “Like” on the page?

  10. android is open, if nokia wanna be in the mobile fight in a soon future, with or without android, need to be open too ;)

  11. Why should Nokia go whit Android? It's a horrible CPU hog and therefore a battery hog. Also, I would rather have something better and (also)Linux based. Wait a minute, MeeGo. I bet it will be ALOT better then Android.

  12. Symbian^3 is open, so is MeeGo and Meamo,
