Back in June, Nokia asked the Poptent community to create a commercial about the Nuron. If you are unfamiliar with Poptent, it is a portal that connects brands with independent commercial videomakers. Out of 44 submissions, Nokia purchased 3 videos for $5K each, one for $1K, and 2 at $500 each. One of the finalists’ video was just upload to the NokiaUS Youtube channel. Twilight fans might like it.
A new video from Nokia shows an interesting project from Peter Ash who created a hamster-powered phone charger. In one of the scenes, you can see the Nokia N8 being charged. Peter said that their hamster kept them awake at night because it wouldn’t stop playing with the wheel. It got Peter thinking about ways to use the hamster’s energy to good use.
I’ve been beta testing a new version of Pixelpipe for several weeks and I’m glad to finally see it at the Ovi Store! The new Pixelpipe now lets you upload photos, video, audio & files directly from the Nokia Send menu “via Pixelpipe” to over 110 services across the Social Web. It was previously done as a Nokia Share Online plugin. Watch the video after the jump to see how it works.
Gravity, one of our favorite apps for Symbian was just updated to version 1.32 (build 6601) to include a new images section. It also fixes a couple of bugs. The new image section lets you easily change the image size and the photo hosting service on the fly. We have a video after the jump to show you how it looks.
Larissa Riquelme has appeared on our radar again. If you forgot about her, she was that hot Paraguayan model photographed at the World Cup with a Nokia E71 placed comfortably between her breasts. She was recently in Guadalajara, Mexico to promote the newly launched Nokia C3. Do you think this kind of product placement results in sales?
Mobile Review did it again by publishing an early preview of the unannounced Nokia C7. This device has been leaked several times already, but it won’t be available in stores until the end of 2010 or early 2011 according to the infamous reviewer Eldar Murtazin. In short, he thinks the Nokia C7 is basically the Nokia N8 in a different body with a lower price.
If you have been experiencing problems with Nokia Messaging in the past two weeks, Nokia says they will completely fix it by Friday, August 27th. Some of the issues included not receiving emails and getting notifications that their subscription has ended. They provided some troubleshooting steps to reboot the Nokia Messaging service.
