Framestore held a competition that asked you to submit ideas of special effects they can add to their upcoming FX Studio app for the Nokia N8. The 3 winners were just announced and the ideas all sound great. Congrats to Magnet Man, Alien Tripod, and Raining Goo!

WINNERS

3rd Place: Raining Goo by William Kenton, USA.
Concept: Goo falls from the sky

2nd Place: Alien Tripod by Itay Wolfson, Israel
Concept: A hole opens in the ground out of which emerges a huge tripod shooting laser beams at the camera.

1st Place: Magnet Man by Srikapardhi Kala, India
Concept: A simple marker acts as a magnetic power source attracting animated iron objects to it.

I can’t wait to see this app on the Nokia N8. Keep in mind that these visual effects will be created by the same team who worked on movies like Avatar, Prince of Persia, Clash of Titans, Sherlock Holmes, and more! Check out Framestore on Facebook for more info.
