Nokia X3 Touch and Type Announced
Nokia announced the Nokia X3 Touch and Type today. It is a slim S40 device with a 2.4-inch resistive touchscreen and a 12-button phone keypad. It’s the first phone from Nokia to offer this combination. It is expected to go on sale in the third quarter for about EUR 125.

“With the Nokia X3 we are giving consumers the best of both worlds by combining a touch screen and a keypad in an affordable device. We have given people a larger screen with clear icons and menus plus kept critical keys such as the send and end keys. We’ve also added dedicated function keys for important links like music and text messaging,” said Mary McDowell, Executive Vice President of Mobile Phones at Nokia in the press release.
On the back of the Nokia X3 Touch and Type is a 5 megapixel camera. Don’t expect too much from video, as it will only record 18fps at 640×480 resolution. GPS is also missing in this device.
At approximately EUR 125 excluding taxes and subsidies, I have a feeling this phone will sell well. It will initially be offered in China, Ireland & UK, Russia, Australia & New Zealand, Singapore, Germany, Spain & Portugal, France, Mexico and Saudi & Yemen. We’ll see if it attracts lines like the Nokia C3 in Vietnam.
