Behind the Scenes #NokiaBox Unboxing at Times Square

Today was certainly interesting. I received an email from WOMWorld Nokia to head over to Times Square for the mysterious #NokiaBox. I met up with Erick from Nokia Innovation in front of the Nokia Theatre at 1PM. Immediately, a guy wearing headphones and carrying a boom mic approached us and put wireless lav mics on our shirts. Across the street was a huge Nokia box. Erick and I realized they were going to film us do an unboxing in the middle of Times Square!

Inside the box were a couple of Nokia C6′s. I made sure to grab the white one before Erick, but it worked out fine because he preferred the black one. I thought it was pretty cool to do this kind of unboxing because the ones usually found on Youtube are indoors with one person talking to his/her audience online. Today, we shared our unboxing experience with curious bystanders in the middle of Times Square too!

I’m not sure when WOMWorld Nokia will publish the video, but I took some behind-the-scenes photos with the Nokia C6. Check them out below.

I’m a camera junkie, so I was really impressed that the whole shoot was done with a Canon 7D dSLR with 24-70mm f/2.8L lens. I can’t wait to see the video!

They had to shoot scenes multiple times, so we had to open and close the box several times. Here’s Donna from WOMWorld and Erick from Nokia Innovation.

Tourists and New Yorkers were curious and stood around to watch what we were doing. They were probably wondering what was inside the big box.

One of the scenes was to play with the Nokia C6. Here’s the camera guy zooming in on Erick while he’s taking photos with the Nokia C6. Yes… the camera guy is holding a dSLR.

Towards the end was an interview-type scene where Erick and I shared our first impressions of the Nokia C6. We were sitting on those red chairs.

I’ll write up another post with my first impressions of the Nokia C6, but I’d like to mention that the QWERTY keyboard is great and the build quality is impressive for a phone with an unsubsidized launch price of $309 unlocked.

Here’s the Nokia C6:

P.S. We were told there will be a #NokiaBox event in a few weeks that will be even bigger and more exciting than today. The wait is going to kill me!
