Nokia N8 Components Cost $187.47, Four Cents Cheaper than iPhone 4
Researcher iSuppli Corp. told Bloomberg today that the components in the Nokia N8 cost $187.47. The most expensive element is the display and touchscreen which cost $39.25. Retail price of the Nokia N8 is $549 in the US without contract. Materials and parts were reportedly supplied by companies including Samsung, Toshiba, and Texas Instruments.

For comparison, iSuppli told Bloomberg that the 16GB Apple iPhone 4′s components cost $187.51. Without contract, you can buy a new iPhone 4 for $599 at AT&T stores. Here are some of the other component costs for the Nokia N8:
- Memory components, including 16 GB of mass storage:$37.12
- Camera element: $31.08
- Chipset to run the OS: $22
The estimate doesn’t include costs for items such as labor, shipping, advertising, software development or patent licensing.
