Nokia N900 PR 1.3 Update Now Available

There is a new update for the Nokia N900 dubbed PR 1.3, but you’ll see it in the device as version 20.2010.36-2. The update adds support for PC Ovi Suite to access and sync files and messages between your Nokia N900 and desktop. There are also tweaks and fixes that should make the Nokia N900 perform better. The OTA update wasn’t available for me, but Nokia Software Update via PC worked fine.

N900 Update

The PR 1.3 update is about 200MB. I don’t notice major changes so far, but I’ll update this post if a changelog pops up. On the backend, the Maemo team mentioned on their blog that this update aligns the Qt application and UI framework with the planned version for the MeeGo 1.1 platform (Wt 4.7). It includes Qt Mobility 1.0.2 APIs too. Make sure to read their post if you’re a developer.

  I don’t notice much. Very, very first impressions: My photos load up immediately when I view them now. However, my videos are no longer in order by date.

      Not that I noticed at least, but then again I would simply say No without checking. They have said there will be no Meego through Ovi. You will have to download yourself and flash. If Im not mistaken. And the only thing they claimed about this release was there would be “support” to dualboot, not that it will install Meego on your phone anywhere in any directory in any bootscreen. Meego is not getting a official release for N900, it is however going to be downloadable for people who feel like flashing (or dualbooting now). Thats what I understood atleast from googling 5 seconds.

      It came with the framework to enable it yourself, if you know how. It updated with kexec kernel support, which would allow for instant kernel loading, eliminating the need to constantly reflash the device to run a different OS. If you don’t know how to do it, don’t do it.

    Because you’re downloading the whole OS image and flashing it. Ubuntu’s LiveCDs are always about 700MB, no?

  The OTA update was 87 MB. If you download it from the Ovi Suite it’s around 200 MB

u can download it from the nokia dev site than falash it with flasher.. this the easy and time consuming way to update it

I updated it directly from the phone via update in app manager… is there any difference with the one in ovi?

    I’m in the U.S downloaded it OTA didn’t backup anything and didn’t loose anything only 2 things that i noticed was media player doesn’t stutter and you can now go to the ovi site and they have support for the phone. Don’t wanna start any rumors but we are supposed to get another one shortly. I just heard so don’t believe me .

      video doesn’t lag while recording. there is an app in the download section that let’s you use the led light for torch while recording .

      I use live focus it also gives u the ability to use macro mode for video recording.

Only difference I have noticed so far is that T-Mobile now recognizes my phone and won’t let me access internet without upgrading my plan

    I temporarily upgrade, but had to back out for a variety of reasons. I noticed that tmo recognized my phone. It was faster and snappier. I hope to upgrade when I solve my particular concerns.

I got my update yesterday immediately it was released via OTA and its working beautifully. I’m in Uganda in Africa.

Ive done the update and it went well but I cannot really see anything different. I thought there was going to be a dual boot maemo and meego option but unless Im missing something I cannot see that option. Im hot sure if there is anyting of great significance in this upgrade. How about other N900 users what have you found?

  i agree with you mike the older version was much better i had msn app which i cant download due to it not being compatible fmms does not work anymore when i go on youtube the video just says flash click here its annoying now

I got the update OTA here in the Philippines. Weight is around 85 MB only.

I used the flasher (impossible to use the OTA from the beginning): everything is much faster, I don’t have problems to use simultaneously Maps, the Media Reader and the phone with a bluethooth headset. This was impossible with the 1.2.
The fix with maps is really faster (22 seconds for a cold fix after pressing the maps launcher) and is done even in a building. I noticed a new button in Maps: an arrow in circle to recalculate the road when you miss the road. The new Maps 3.0 have been better, but it’s a useful improvement.
Another improvement: I don’t have anymore interruption with bluetooth headset after a quite long use.
I agree also with the improvement of the photo, especially whit flash and in video: no more snowy result.
Funny bug: the main improvement (compatibility with ovi) totally fails! No synchronisation of messages, no access to ovi store…

Just got a n900 for £40 but the usb connection is broke, but apart from that, ALL GOOD. looks like a OVER THE AIR update for moi.

I downloaded navigation turn by turn, but it is not working, it says check memory there is no maps downloaded. Actually I don’t have extra memory, because its enough default main memory. How can I fix. ?

Hello All,
I recently updated to PR 1.3 V 2……
(update message kept popping up on the screen, i was’nt able to get rid of it so updated).
The only bug so far is the loading of Application Manager… which keeps loading………………… then displays * Operation Failed * !

i got my noka n900 flashed as i had problem with wifi connectivity. now that is solved but lost my skype software. can anyone suggest how to get it installed as ovi store does not support n900 skype.

i just want to know why in nokia n 900 we can’t make vidoe call from the Semcard 3G we can make Vidoe call from Skype and Gmail Ovi and not aybule to get any vidoe call from other telephone calling to N900
