Nokia N8 Camera Needs a User Interface Overhaul
A few days ago at our biweekly Los Angeles Tuttle meeting, Ms Jen brought along her new precious, the Nokia N8. She graciously let me play with it and while I was very impressed, I did find some concerns.
Steve Jobs: Nokia is Big, But Not the Best
Steve Jobs mentioned Nokia during Apple’s fourth quarter results conference call. He said that Apple admires Nokia, but don’t aspire to be them. Nokia leads global cellphone sales with low-priced phones, but Steve said Apple wants to make the best devices. He added that Apple’s goal is to make breakthrough products and that they don’t know how to make great handsets at $50.
Swype for Symbian^3 Now at Ovi Store, Install it on Your Nokia N8
I was pretty excited to hear that Swype showed up at the Ovi Store for Symbian^3 devices. It’s a keyboard replacement that I’m absolutely in love with on the Android platform and glad that it’s now available on the new Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8. If the app is not showing up at the Ovi Store for your N8, there’s a direct link for download.

Nokia N8 15-second TV ads Hit the UK
There are five new 15-second TV advertisements for the Nokia N8 to broadcast in the UK. Two have broadcast already, but the rest are online for your enjoyment. There’s one about the Nokia N8′s HDMI-out capability and others about the thousands of apps available at the Ovi store. Check them out after the jump!
Nokia N900 PR 1.3 Update Coming Soon With Dual Boot to Meego
Don’t forget about the Nokia N900! Word on the net (the Meego blog to be specific) is that PR 1.3 update is coming soon and that you’ll be able to dual boot between Maemo and Meego. The last update, PR 1.2 was released last May. Do you still have your Nokia N900? Post updated with Nokia’s response.

Nokia N8 Components Cost $187.47, Four Cents Cheaper than iPhone 4
Researcher iSuppli Corp. told Bloomberg today that the components in the Nokia N8 cost $187.47. The most expensive element is the display and touchscreen which cost $39.25. Retail price of the Nokia N8 is $549 in the US without contract. Materials and parts were reportedly supplied by companies including Samsung, Toshiba, and Texas Instruments.
Ovi Store Interactive, Clickable Demos at Ovi Daily App
Did you know that Nokia are showcasing some of the best apps from Ovi Store through interactive, clickable demos at one of their official blogs, Ovi Daily App? The tutorials are based on DeviceAnywhere’s DemoAnywhere solution, which allows consumers to interact with apps on virtual mobile phones via the Internet. They gave me a demo while I was at CTIA.
How Do Nokia Fans Feel About Windows Phone 7?
Microsoft joined together with more than 60 mobile operators in over 30 countries to reveal their first Windows Phone 7 handsets today. Some will start shipping later this month in Europe. The UI looks completely different from the Windows Mobile OS that I absolutely hated. Take a look at some of the photos and voice your opinion on the competition.
