Nokia Explains ClearBlack Display on Video

Nokia just published a 90 second video on YouTube showing how great ClearBlack displays are. I have to admit it’s a cool marketing video that delivers the message. ClearBlack ensures blacker blacks, whiter whites, brighter colors, zero reflection, and complete visibility even when outdoors on a sunny day. You can see it for yourself when the Nokia E7 and C6-01 become available.

To get a little more technical, ClearBlack display isn’t a completely new type of display technology. It’s actually an AMOLED display (like the one on the Nokia N8) with a polarized filter on top. The filter blocks light, reduce reflections on the screen and improve visual image quality, especially outdoors. I’m eager to compare Nokia’s CBD with Samsung’s Super AMOLED display.

    Nigel Tufnel: It’s like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black.

    Can we assume that the volume control on the ClearBlack enabled mobiles will go up to 11?

    So if it’s just an extra layer, surely can we just get a polarizing CBD filter to stick onto our N8 display?

    I think its a crap video. I just wish we had the ability to say. This is what it is , isn’t it great, instead of these fluffy videos that ‘make people think’.

    My N8 display looks great outdoors, never had a problem with the light, I thought it had the CBD already on, are you sure it does not has it, because in my case it does look all colors bright and nice.
