The Ovi by Nokia team is giving away Nokia N8′s over the next two weeks. They’ll show you a photo of Santa each day and you have to guess which capital city he’s in. There will be hints provided. I’ll help you out today, but you’re on your own afterwards. Today, he’s in Helsinki.

Rollercoaster Extreme by Barclaycard was released for download on Nokia handsets last week. It’s free and you can download it at the Ovi Store. As part of a promotion for the game, Barclaycard will be sending the four all-time top scorers on a trip to Las Vegas for the Rollercoaster Extreme game playoffs where they’ll play each other for the chance to win £50,000 on NYNY Hotel’s very own rollercoaster.

The Ovi Daily App is hosting their second annual “Must-Have App of the Year Awards,” where you can vote for your favorite mobile apps from the past year in six different categories. What’s in it for you? The person who correctly predicts all six of the winning apps will be eligible to win a new Nokia N8, loaded with the six winning applications. Voting is open December 15th -31st.
Symbian UI Overhaul & Phones with Optical Zoom Expected Next Year
Senior Manager Gunther Kottzieper shared some of Nokia’s plans for 2011 at the International Mobile Internet Conference in Beijing on Tuesday. According to Kottzieper, first quarter of 2011 will include more than 50 enhancements to Symbian, including an updated browser with a more intuitive user interface. The second and third quarter will bring “a new look and feel for the UI. The fourth quarter will introduce more powerful CPU and graphics processors and last but not least, a “true zoom camera.”
Nokia E7 Sample Photos from Down Under Spotted on Flickr
We found some photos from the yet-to-be-released Nokia E7 on Flickr again. Last time we spotted real-life sample photos from the E7, they were taken down quickly. I’m guessing these will disappear soon too. Check out some sample landscape shots, group photos, mid shots, and medium close-up from Australia. As expected from the Nokia E7′s full focus camera, the close-up photos weren’t sharp.
Tron: Legacy LA Premiere Recap
When Nokia asked me a few a days ago if I was interested to go to LA to watch the Tron: Legacy premiere as their guest, I replied, “Hell yeah!” They have teamed up with Disney to celebrate the release of the upcoming movie which opens in theaters nationwide on December 17th. The Nokia N8 is also starring in the movie. Here’s my recap with photos taken from the N8.
One Month Later, The Nokia Blog App is Off to a Good Start
The Nokia Blog app appeared at the Ovi Store last month. I purposely didn’t blog about it on the site because I wanted to know how it would perform on its own. Surprisingly, the app is off to a good start with numerous users downloading the app and reading the content. Maybe I shouldn’t be so shocked because there are indeed a lot of people checking out the Ovi Store on their Nokia devices. Just a few days ago, Nokia announced they’ve reached 3.5 million downloads per day.
Nokia Launching “Many Gifts, not One” Global Campaign for Nokia N8 Dec 10th
Nokia will be launching a global campaign for the Nokia N8 starting December 10th with the strapline, “Many Gifts, not One.” It will launch across 20 countries including the UK, China, India, Brazil and Vietnam. We’ll see it across retail shops, websites, social media, and even outdoors. The aim is to highlight the Nokia N8′s multi-functionality.
Loop Launched at Ovi Store, Nokia’s New Free Musical Looping App
“If you are a rapper or an MC, Loop is a must,” said the first reviewer of this app at the Ovi store. Loop is Nokia’s awesome new musical looping app launched today. Record your voice, record the dog, record your friends on the bus. With Loop, you can turn anything into music. There are 9 baselines to get you started. Check out the video of one sample loop created with the app. It has poodles.
